This may be speculation or conjecture, but I heard a suggestion that the circuits were still partly PAL because of the Disaster Recovery role Millbank has.

If the brown sticky stuff hits the fan at TV Centre and they decamp to Millbank, the PAL circuits are more conducive to on-the-fly lash ups than having to deal with digital coders and decoders at both ends and making sure they are compatible.

That massive BBC World News style dog has returned this afternoon, minus animation...

Its animating smoothly now. I quite like it.

That Live Location strap on the Campaign Show looks like a poor mock.

Is N6 having something to do with the presentation of the first half hour of 'The Campaign Show', then going to the weather, then N8 takes over until 10, while the 10 is set up in N6, even though the actual show is coming from Millbank?

The programme will be passing through the N6 (or N8 ) desk in the same way that TC7 does for Breakfast and the Six so that the ticker can be added.

When News 24 comes from N8 9:30-10 weekdays though, does it go through N6's desk or N8's? I always assumed N8 because they needed N6 for preparation and often the ticker will say Currencies at that time, suggesting it's N8.

[edited from what I said earlier, which was rubbish]

N9 are taking over the network, although spend almost all of the time with studio MB1 on the mixer - save for a short headline sequence just after 2130.

I think it comes from N8... if you watch carefully, when the weather kicks in at 57:00 or so, sometime through the weather there's (best way to describe it) a slight picture jump where they are obviously switching galleries. Watch closely and you'll see what I mean!

News 24 currently have a large white background on the back screens with the Election 2010 written on it and bloody hell it looks bad, large black joins all over the place!

It's not so much that the there are the gaps, it's just that the gaps don't match!

Indeed, in the close-ups on Simon, the diagonal lines of the Election 2010 graphics were 'broken' by the joins of the screens. The graphics also look really blurry and nasty in close-up; I think they look very smart in wide shots on the big screens, and I even like the way that the design has been applied to features like Jeremy's green-screen swingometer stuff, but that kind of close-up is really unpleasant to look at.

It does appear that they are having some major problems with the Barco's in N6 today. There's a gaping black gap on the back wall where the sport comes from (in the corner), one of the screens behind the presenters on the desk shot seems to have dropped down and has lost alignment - also theres another screen that's dropped out behind Simon.

In fact they seem to be having lots of technical problems today as there has been a lot of V/T not playing properly and the titles were a bit problematic at the 10am TOTH. Poor old Carrie had to fill for a bout 10 seconds just now saying 'I've been told is coming, and playing soon...'.

If the screens weren't having a wobbly today - it wouldn't look so bad with the Election graphics on the screens behind the presenters.
