One thing that I wish the news channel would do is that when the weekend bulletins start at 10:10pm - is put one of the news channels presenters at the left wall from the start of the TOTH - not begin the bulletin from the desk and then 3 minutes along when the 2nd presenter starts talking in a tight shot... make the other move to the wall as it causes a hell of a lot of caffule in the background and seems to make no sense and must be off putting to the other presenter whose trying to read the story.
So, put one of the news channel presenters at the wall from the start - this gives the network presenter some time to bed in - also means theres no messing around and clatterting about as the network presenter will be at the desk already (i.e. they'd be at the desk from the TOTH).
Either that or BBC One actually have the bulletin start at 10!
the network bulletin in Scotland was on from 1800 - 1817. The signoff was 'now, if you're watching north of the border, time for Reporting Scotland'.
Slightly confusing if you're watching News Channel in Scotland, I'd imagine
Cut down version of the Politics Show at 830 tonite.
I'd be watching to see how they do the edit, bearing in mind they've got to cut references to the 12pm news summary & 'The Politics Show - Where You Are' !
Edit : The Sky EPG says 830 but it's just started right now at 820!!!
Edit : 'Pre Credits' sequence, then short titles, then into opening VT & discussion!
I have noticed something as of late - it may of stopped happening a while back, but they don't use that 'Breaking News' sting sound effect anymore, when was that dropped?

I think that was dropped back in 2008. I've certainly not heard the 2008 one used on air. The last time I saw one being used it was the previous music.
Just seen a report by Mark Easton about the Commons Travel Rules, excellent use of the TC7 screens with him walking along and pictures coming up... would love to see more things like this as it really does add depth to the news.
I do trust that during the Election Campaign (when it officially kicks off) that the N9 Gallery will be on standby so if the news channel has to provide a network bulletin and theres a speech going on they can stick with the speech/election news if necessary and not have the incident today, where David Cameron is holding a conference/talk in Milton Keynes and gets cut off half way through for the lunchtime bulletin and then re-opts back into it again - 10 minutes later, missing half of it. If they show a Gordon Brown speech in full they will have to broadcast the other parties in full as well to show impartiality.
