The 5 Live move to Salford was scheduled for 2011. Moving all 5 departments 'up north' & moving the whole News operation into Broadcasting House at the same time would be madness - knowing BBC management, that is exactly what will happen Razz

My gut feeling is that TV News won't move until 2012/3 - but that is only a gut feeling. Sport and FiveLive are due to move in 2011 - and I suspect that is enough to cope with in one year - particularly for Siemens...

Are you infering that Seimens can't cope? Very Happy

You're inferring - he's implying.

And I'll just say it outright - they can't cope Smile

About 4,500 staff are due to be housed on the Broadcasting House site by this time next year .

Perhaps they'll do news before 5 Live? W1 certainly seems more ready thanm MediaCity.

The original plan was that the back office stuff moves from Oxford Rd inc New technology followed by Radio Manchester (not that we are allowed to use the 'R' word these days) & North West Salford Today Wink It's a definate decision which will have to be made soon which will determine who and what goes where as staff are not going to move their homes then have to squat in London & commute. At present 5 Live & Sport should be in Spring Summer 2011 Childrens dept the following year. But in Birtspeak - 'it is a fluid situation and subject to external influences'. There are mutterings that vacating bush house is getting quite high on the priority list but like everything else no one wants to commit to anything just yet.

It would not surprise if there was a clueless management sort in the hierarchy of the BBC who would think that having Sport and Radio5Live decamp to MediaCity while News and Public Affairs move to BH at the same time would be perfect....The time to do both, in the thinking of said dolt? During the 2012 Summer Olympics, of course Wink .

Had to laugh at Jon Sopel's comments there outside the QE2 arena covering the Chicott Enquiry.

The person he was interviewing said the world 'Indiginous' - Jon went on to say 'Don't say we dumb down here at the BBC, you don't hear that comment everyday' - hands back to Julian Worricker who agreed with him. Smile

Classic!

Anyone just lost NC & Parliament on SKY?

Freeview NC appears to be ok, plus other BBC channels on SKY.

Either that or something;s **** my end.
