I didn't see how they linked into it, but News Channel have gone over to Andrew Marr's interview with David Cameron, live.

Yes they sometimes do that when it is a major interview - and there is sometimes a time delay. That said though, I'm not sure if they did it last week when Gordon Brown was on - can anyone confirm?

Re Cameron interview, they were slow opting back out as you got a couple of seconds of Susannah Reid before it cut to Sophie Long.

Do you think the BBC News Channel should rebrand their slots for example:
6-8.25 Breakfast with Bill Turnbull & Sian Williams (TC7)
8.25-12 BBC Morning News with Simon McCoy & Carrie Gracie ( N6)
12-2- Lunchtime Live with Sophie Raworth & Ben Brown (N6)
2-5 - Happening Now with Jon Sopel & Louise Minchin (N6)
5-6 - Huw Edwards: Live and Informed (N6)
6-8 - International Desk with George Alagiah & Jane Hill (TC7)
8-10 - BBC News Centre with Joanna Gosling & Matthew Amroliwala (N9)
10 -11 Huw Edwards: Live and Informed (N6)
11-1 Just in with Chris Eakin (N6)

I couldn't see something like this happening at all!

Would be disastrous, leads to focussing the content of each of the segments, which would involve an additional editorial decision point upsetting the flow of the channel and breaking news.

Some of the programme titles you've chosen would look positively out of place on the BBC! "Live and informed", "Happening now", "Just in", etc... and as for "Lunchtime Live" - well, that was the name of a regional news magazine here in Yorkshire.

"BBC News" just seems boring. Plus it could use the BARCOs a lot better e.g. different backdrops

It might be 'boring', but it truly describes the nature of the content, without un-necessary bangs and whistles which deflect the viewer.

Erm... it's a recognised brand name, there's nothing wrong with it. I suppose you could have "Lunchtime Live from BBC News" but that simple name is there for a reason. As other (better informed) members have pointed out on this forum many a time, it helps to have a cohesive and strong brand identity in this era of modernity in which we have hundreds upon hundreds of choices for news. That simple, 'boring' name certainly works in the BBC's favour, judging by the general popularity of it's services.
