Does anyone know where the sport headlines were presented from at the start of the ten? Was it TC7 or CSO? Can't have been from the normal sports area in N6 as Huw was there - or was it just the other wall?

*checks iPlayer - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/item/b00b09vt.shtml *
Looks like the CSO studio used for the morning updates & BBCi loops at first glance, although I'm sure someone else here would know better than me.

Yup - the sport headlines come from the Clip Studio (the same one used for the news loop, 60 Seconds and the BBC1 Summaries)

I've asked this once before, so I'll ask again.

Why has the swear filter been edited? Everytime I type in c h a n n e l, it turns into 24?

I think they should have kept the headline beds from last year TOTH/headlines/coming up.They were much better than this boring one we have now-I dont know why they botherd changing it as the old ones wouldnt exactley look out of place now as the titles are the same basic music-they should bring them back.

David Lowe's brief was to take the music back to basics. I'm quite pleased with it, to be honest. I always felt the 2007 music was very OTT, particularly on News 24. The National music was OK.

So how many references to News 24 have there been on the BBC News C-h-a-n-n-e-l since yesterday? I think it's funny - sort of undermines the suits' decision!

I'd like to know whether the titles have been checked using a Harding FPA machine ?!

Why can't BBC World simulcast from N6 overnight? Don't undertand why they can't just plonk Alastair Yates in N6 and World take the feed from there.

Anyone got any screen caps of BBC World's Ticker and DOG etc?

There are all sorts of reasons. One is that the News Channel now comes from a studio - not a newsroom - so it would require a floor manager to be present if there were guests, whereas the previous News 24 and current BBC World sets are newsroom based, and in a newsroom/office a producer can assume safety responsibilities for a guest on-set, whereas this would probably not be allowed in a studio, where there are more safety issues.

There is also now a lighting/camera person in the News Channel operation - and I suspect that is too expensive to run overnight - so the BBC World operation which still runs on two director/operators in the gallery only is more cost effective.

And - as others have said - there is a requirement to maintain the Barco screens (replace dead bulbs etc.) so taking the studio off-air between 0100 and 0830 weekdays (0100-0600 weekends) allows for more time for maintenance etc.

Jarrodfactor - lovely video you did on the previous page!

Just seen the "Headlines every 15 minutes" add. Quite funny how badly they edited it. All they've done is let Huw say "Get the headlines every 15 minutes on BBC NEWS..." then cut before he gets a chance to say 24. Awfully done!

I can't help my eye being drawn to the rough edge of that dodgy panel in the wall which has been framed exactly between the two presenters.

It's really distracting. Surprised they let this get through, obviously I don't know how the screens are set up but it is beyond the realms of possibility to replace one of the panels with another ?

One of the problems I'm getting with the new graphics is a distortion of the DOG when the white aston appears above. It doesn't happen when the picture behind is bright, but when the contrast between the aston and a dark picture is high, the DOG gets badly skewed. I've seen this effect before on TVs. Can anyone explain it, and is anyone else effected?

Looks kinda like this, though not quite as bad. Will try and post actual images later...

I have the same problem on my TV. I think it's just because mines rubbish, but when the straps appear the dog and ticker font all go to what looks like italics.

That usually happens on CRT TVs which either have the contrast turned up too high, older models reaching the end of their life, or models with poorly engineered power supplies.

The problem happens because the peak white areas distort the scanning circuits. This shouldn't happen - but does...
