Dateline London was in N9 today - is this always the case?

They did it from there last year too IIRC, so yes it must be over the Christmas period.

Maybe it's because it was most probably recorded - unlikely they'd all come in for a live show on Boxing Day. I suppose there's no time to use N6 to pre-record programmes.

Isn't Dateline a review of the year this time of year, and thus ripe for pre-recording?

Perhaps this should be in the presenters topic, but Gavin looks very relaxed and casual with no tie. What's the BBC's policy for news and ties - is it different for certain shows?

In my view, if the male presenters have to wear them, so should the female presenters - equality and all that.

Not wearing a tie doesn't 'dumb down' the news at all. The only 'news' channel, if that's the best way to describe it where the presenters didn't wear ties was Setanta Sports News and it didn't look out of place.

Gavin rarely wear a tie presenting "Dateline:London". Of course this may have to do with his killer schedule for Friday/Saturday as of late (the holidays notwithstanding) ie, the 5 PM on the NC and Newsnight on Two for Friday, then Dateline live Saturday midday.

I'm wondering if we will see an increase in the use of the Bacros in N6 once the new projectors etc, have been fitted, especially use of the panels behind the presenters for other things than just a newsroom backdrop?

So I take it TC7 is just having it's floor painted or are there other technical/engineering works going on? Is N6 just having the new self correcting Barco projectors fitted or is other work going on in there too (the floor being painted as well) some modifications to the set - a new newsroom backdrop?

Another question, is the gallery still going to be operating from N6 or are the gallery staff moving to the N9 one?

Finally, will the overnight Simulcasts be coming from N8 or N9? I only ask as usually the simulcast presenter begins their shift in N6 from 12am and moves into N8 after an extended weather bulletin for 1am quite frequently. Surely keeping the presenter in N9 is more practical,

It probably won't happen but I'd like N6 to have a grey floor again, the set looked a lot brighter when it first launched with the lighter floor colour. It would suit the current branding to.

They're having fun with the shots in N9 this morning - there's been a few nice pans around the edge of the desk, and I just spotted a shot peering over a pile of (wrapped) Christmas presents. And a nice big tree behind the presenters.

N6's gallery appears to be out of use (the studio output is a still of some generic News graphics), so it seems the network is coming from N9. No ticker so far - is that normal for weekend Breakfast?

On the topic of studios - The Andrew Marr Show is back next Sunday - will TC7 be open by that time?

Glad you liked it! Thought we'd try our best to make it as funky as possible despite it being less versatile than Breakfast's usual home!

How refreshing to see a real newsroom behind the presenters, how nice is it to see some depth to the image background.

Just a shame it;s not going to last, this is how it should always be.

Do these people normally work there in the background or have they been moved from somewhere else to make it look busy?!?!

oooh and a real Christmas tree, now there is an original idea!
