I would imagine that if it's only a cosmetic change on the studio floor they could run N9's output through the N6 gallery like they do for programmes coming from TC7, so it shouldn't be difficult to get it on air. They may switch N9 directly to line at a later stage, a bit like the way regions soft opt on analogue.

I thought it was TC7 having the floor redone?! Also, what programmes on these days are filmed in TC7 but controlled from N6?

Sorry - I was using the term "studio floor" to mean the studio space, as opposed to the gallery.

Ahh I see - as I understand it they're repainting the TC7 floor this Christmas which is why I got confused! Wink

I believe N6 & TC7 close on Christmas Eve so possibly that day or Christmas Day will be the first day but don't take my word for it. Can't imagine anyone will be working on either studio until Monday 28th at the earliest so possibly then actually. Don't know how long it takes/how hard it is to re-route the channels to their tempory locations.

Surely the point of doing it over Christmas is to do the work over Christmas? Why would they move studios on the 24th and then not start the work until 4 days later?

Don't know how long it would take to set up the temporary studio but once it's done the actual business of technically routing it to air is a couple of buttons. Remember though that it would just be the studio operation that will move, there's no real need for the newsroom to move too

Any chance of an updated newsroom background, once the work has been done? Surely it wouldn't be too expensive?

Presumably they'll put a few people in there as set dressing?

I notice that duing the BBC News at One, they are using tight Camera Angles so the virtual Christmas Tree doesn't come into shot. Why not let it just show?

The BBC1 bulletins have never had a Christmas tree. It's fine for Breakfast and the News Channel, but it's not the done thing for a serious, high-profile news bulletin. Neither ITV nor Channel 4 will have Christmas trees on their bulletins.
