The plan is to have the channel from the old N9 Newsroom set and the BBC1 Bullies from the new smaller set opposite.

That's what they should've done in the first place, instead of keep moving the NC in & out for the BBC 1 bulletins & stuff like 'Dateline London'.

Except there won't be enough space/ equipment/ crew for BBC 1 bulletins to be rehearsing in the smaller set in N9 while the NC is at the old desk area of N9. So ultimately the NC would still need to move to N8 on evenings before the ten, the One would still have no time to rehearse and therefore would need to remain a normal NC "bulletin" and the six/ breakfast would still need to use TC7.

So really it would solve nothing, but leave BBC 1 bulletins open as a security threat, BBC 1 bulletins would have little space and there would be noone behind the main N9 set, leaving a very boring, empty newsroom set. Also the NC doesn't "move out" for any programme or bulletin except the Ten O'Clock News. Dateline London happens at the desk area of N6 while the NC presenter finishes off in a corner and many of the other programmes come from TC7 these days.

BBC News channel should always use N9, it's better than the current set and has a real newsroom but the problem is that it's probably empty all the time.

But your missing the huge costs that would add! The single reason for streamlining the NC and Ten/ One into one studio was to save costs - how would you reduce costs by putting it in N9?

I know but would it really be that costely. Maybe BBC should make cuts in pay checks from their ''stars'' and not damage the look of their channels.

I think if they gave rubbish pay to the newsreaders we would get rubbish presenters on the nationals! The big "stars" would stick around!

Couldn't the BBC One news goes in N9 aswell?

The BBC, AIUI, aren't happy with BBC 1 bulletins coming from such an accessible location. Where as N6 is hidden quite deep down and can only be accessed by one entrance (I believe), N8 and N9 are more easily accessed.

Having said all that Breakfast, the Six and Newsnight all come from TC7 which is more easily accessed so perhaps priorities have changed!

From which studio/set is Babita Sharma currently presenting the overnight simulcast on Channel/World? The background looks kinda unfamiliar and very "close" behind the presenter.

In the shot with the two desks, how much is real and how much is computer generate?

There is some clever masking on the left and right edge of the picture to cover up the area where the cameras are. The wall on the smaller set is also 'extended'.

The large 'plasma' in the wide shot is also a DVE rather than real - though the one Emily is stood in front of was real (and rented?)

That's the set News Channel uses.

N6 isn't hidden at all. Just as it's within the News Centre itself and therefore behind a second set of security. N6 is no more secure than N8 or N9.
