But for the layman which sets have TC7 been famous for housing.

Until the late 90's TC7 was a general purpose studio, and if it was famous for anything it was Going Live and the first few series of Live and Kicking. Then it was allocated the BBC News and it's used for the more complex programmes like Newsnight, Breakfast (during the week), Andrew Marr Show, The Politics Show, Working Lunch and Newsround. The Six O'clock News also comes from TC7 - the One and Ten can't because Working Lunch and Newsnight respectively are using it.

The set in TC7 is very similar to that in N6, the studio used by the News Channel and most of the BBC1 bulletins except the Six.

Yes - prior to that TC2 (until recently bought out by CBBC for shows like XChange and CBBC channel presentation) was the main studio that news used in the doughnut for more complex shows like Newsnight and On The Record, and in some incarnations Newsround.

TC2 was used by the more current affairsy output after the merger of News (at TVC) and Current Affairs (at Lime Grove) that saw shows like Breakfast Time (and I think Newsnight) move to TV Centre, and London Plus relaunch as Newsroom South East (and move to Elstree). I think Breakfast with Frost also came from TC2.

I think the move from TC2 to the current studio took place around 1997 - when Breakfast News, Working Lunch, Newsround and Newsnight shared a generic set with panels that could be replaced for each show - a low tech version of the current solution used in both News studios. That approach didn't last that long though...

I wonder why Tim's been on his own since 4 - Sophie was still there just before the TOTH.

she doesn't normally so maybe something happened. Also is it me or was there so many things wrong with the news channel this morning.

1. They aired BBC London News at 8:30am and they had a technical fault which meant they crossed to South East and back again.
2. They messed up the headlines at 9am with the timing as we were left looking at a picture for about ten seconds before Ellie continued with the headlines. (I think it was too short for three presenters - Simon, Tim and Ellie)
3. Simon and Ellie seem to have no chemistry they just gave each other a few glares every so often.

Many? You've counted three. The second is hardly a major problem and the last isn't to do with anything technical or that could be easily fixed.

Well that looked crap just.

Long hold on the 2 presenters doing the simulcast then the camera tracking over to Clive, who was rolling his tongue inside his mouth, trying to keep a straight face IMO.

Why don't they do what they normally do & go to a trail after the simulcast, allowing the presenter changeover or the simulcast presenters continue until the bottom of the hour & changeover during the weather?

She's relief presented occasionally for several years now. I can remember her presenting in the pre-2003 News 24 studio.

She was a semi-regular cover presenter around 2006/7 back in the News 24 days. But I've only seen her a couple of times on the "News Channel."
