Anyone know what happenned on BBC World News America last night? After about 5 minutes the programme was ended with Matt Frei mid-sentence. Then went to an advert for the golf later this week and then an episode of Click started. No announcements to explain anything Confused

I saw that as well. There appeared to have been a few problems with the picture, with occasional black screens. The audio remained intact, apart from a number of scratching noises. Very strange.

Very impressive Moz - lets hope that thet get a set as good and as versatile as that of Sky News! Smile

On another matter - the ticker on the news channel seems to be suffering from the Hippy Shakes again, come on Beeb purge those temp files please! Smile

Wow, that looks huge.
Will both World and News channel have one big newsroom??

Impressive indeed.

The News Channel are currently 'simulcasting' Nicky Campbell's phone-in on 5 Live for a few minutes from 9.50am, with Campbell welcoming viewers to 5 Live. All part of the BBC's 'Taking the Pulse' day on the recession.

Then they just cut away from it at about 9.56am - which made it seem a bit of a waste of time.

Have any arrangements for the allocation of studios for Nationals, News Channel, World News etc. been made yet?

I think I read that the three studios would be below the newsroom?

I read that too I think, which is a huge shame.

I think someone said that National, News Channel & World News would be in the basement, whilst the old plan was to have all studios built on the newsroom floor.

How terrible, they are gonna make that grand newsroom and hide it from us. They might as well use current basement set up they have on the News channel.
They should make newsroom sets for World and News and a closed one for the National.

A newsroom is a place to gather news. A studio is where you ought to broadcast from.

I would rather they had properly equipped studios with all the benefits of a decent height lighting rig, good floor, and a versatile space for sets.

I'd be gutted if they spent all that money on a new building and then stuck a desk in the corner of an office. That would be terrible.

As Gavin says, you can see the benefits of having a proper studio, as opposed to a newsroom, like BBC World News, for lighting and maintenance etc.

I'm sure that in 2012 it will be excellent. I wonder what the graphics and studio will look like! Will they still have David Lowe composing the music?! By then, BBC News might be in HD. Moving to Broadcasting House opens up a whole load of opportunities for BBC News.

From Daily Mail:

Quote:
The project, which is already two years behind schedule and £20 million over budget, will eventually make room for 4,500 staff, 36 radio studios, six TV studios, two control rooms and 60 editing suites.

It will also include the world's largest newsroom, a 43,000 square foot open-plan office the size of half a football pitch.
