On a completely unrelated note.

The BBC went through a phase of changing/modifying the countdown sequences to the TOTH every six months or so with some new images/clips etc a few years back. The countdown's that exist have now been rolling for 2 years nearly. They didn't change any of the clips in the countdown during the last rebrand, they just changed to the BBC News box, made the countdown numbers larger and in Gill Sans. Some clips are really old now.

Really needs updating - it's quite surreal seeing James Landale with long hair - and its good to see him back on the channel as well to that point, I hope he's recovering well.

Hopefully he might be able to regrow it now, as he's returned, and thankfully seems to be recovering from his treatment.

Notice tonight's simulcast with BBC World News is coming from N6, I take it there are problems with N8 this evening?

BBC WN has been in N9 for most of the weekend, because they are modifying N8. I assume it makes more sense for the overnight to be in N6 instead of N9.

Any ideas what they are doing in N8?

They're taking down the right hand side projector, moving the desk, and relighting the studio, according to a BBC employee. It's all in the BBC World News thread.

What I can't understand is how come the BBC World News set, N8 - seems to get a lot more attention; maintenance wise than the BBC News channel's N6? Seems somewhat unfair. Some nice self calibrating BARCO's wouldn't go amiss in N6, possibly re polish he floor over by the left wall?. The new screens in TC7 look so nice compared to the crazy paving ones in N6.

I can see N6 looking a little on the scruffy side come the end of the year.

Why?

Yes, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it before.

It was mentioned about 6 months ago when TC7 had them installed. I believe it was mentioned that it was a longterm plan, but they can only be installed over the christmas period due to the length of time it takes to install them and it would require the studio to be out of commission for a couple of weeks. So if N6 was to get them I would imagine they will be installed this christmas.

I take it that the News channel would move to N8 and World News would move to N9 when it happens? Seems the most logical thing.

Logical to move temporarily BOTH rolling news networks to new homes? I doubt it.

I would bet the plan would be to put News Channel in TC7 over Xmas, as was going to happen Xmas just gone.

Why does it need to be over Christmas - because that's likely to be the most quiet time news-wise?
