I heard that Myrie was coming in, but I'm not quite sure where he will fit into the rota, is someone else leaving?
Also, Flinders has been back reporting for North West Tonight. I've seen Nick Owen, Ben Geogehegehghehgen and Tim Willcox presenting with 'the lovely' Annita over the last few weeks.
Clive Myrie will replace Chris Lowe during the week when he joins in July. Of a weekend, Stuart Flinders is often the weekend evening presenter with Annita, or some other presenter, for example Jon Kay, who presented with Annita last weekend.

Just a thought, perhaps 'Sissons' doesn't fancy the work-load associated with presenting a weekday evening shift.
Jon Sopel I actually find very watchable, coherent and quite skillful in his interviews. Actually, he does all of that without the characteristic 'trade-marks' of Jeremy Paxman's technique.
Sissons is a legend. They should put him on in a more promenant slot, like Weekday evenings and move Ben & Joanna out of the way, or Weekday afternoons, and get rid of Sopel who is a complete idiot when he has a co presenter. (Paxman wannabe)...

The weather was handled a bit differently just before 12noon, and I thought it worked really well. Laura Tobin sat at the desk alongside Matthew Amroliwala and Jane Hill and discussed the news that this summer is supposed to be warmer and drier than usual. She then segued into the weather forecast proper by standing up, stepping off the rostrum and walking over to the Barco screens. I think it worked well and looked great. Let's hope they do this a bit more often with the live forecasts, as having the weather presenter stuck in a separate studio can get a bit repetitive at times.

I remember them doing that a few times when they were in N8 if there was a weather-related story. ISTR for a while the business reporter also did the same quite regularly. I always found the whole standing up and walking across the studio while talking looked a bit awkward, and the sound of footsteps didn't help. Might be better in N6 though.

Yes, it definitely wasn't as awkward in N6 as it was in N8. In N8 there was quite a walk from the desk to the other area of the set, which could be quite distracting. Today, Laura Tobin just had to step off the rostrum and she was in situ by the screens within about two or three seconds.
BB
For major weather-related stories, the weather presenter would sometimes present while sat at the desk, with the map on the holoscreen behind.
I'm sure I remember this happening a few times during the Five O'Clock News, although more often than not the presenter would do the walk of shame to the side-pod presentation area to do the weather from there, if they'd started with a bit of banter at the desk.

I must say it did look good the walking over to the wall and doing the weather from N6. I think the reason why they don't use the N6 screens for the weather (except for the 5 and 1) is because the Sport sometimes comes from the side wall just before the weather and the studio is too small to do a quick change over. I have to say it did look good... and so did Laura's Legs.

This has probably been asked before but I'll ask anyway. Is the Central London studio and the Westminster studio used for live's on the News Channel actually the same studio just a different backdrop picture? Reason I ask is sometimes the location strap says Central London with the Westminster palace backdrop and sometimes it says it with the fictional London backdrop and vice versa. Didn't know if there is more than one CSO set up in Central London for this.

A Fictional DSO background? Are we talking about the one with Tower Bridge central in it.

Essentially - yes...and no. The Beeb tends to use its Westminster studios for most Central London lives. If the story has a political edge to it, they aston the location as Westminster. If it's non-political they aston it Central London. They might also change the background too.
That being said - there are live points at Broadcasting House, Bush House and Marylebone High Street. So sometimes the interview may be from there. Usually though it's Millbank.
