Hilarious. Shows the marketing BS for what it is.

Nice to see that despite all the big news stories of today we still have time for E24 on the BBC News channel! Rolling Eyes

No night backdrop on the NC tonight.

What a shame they didn't hold this picture for more than 2 seconds on screen during the report on the 'Six' tonight. There seems to be quite a lot of development going on well ahead of the IOC timescales in east London.

Because Philipa Thomas is no longer doing World News Today at 0300BST, the overnight presenter on BBC News presents World News Today.

Is this meant to be temporary, or are they planning to look for a permanent presenter of the programme? I really don't like the programme with James Dagwell (who frankly doesn't look as though he knows what he is doing), or whoever else is doing the overnight shift. I much preferred it when we had a fixed presenter. It just gives more of an identity to the programme. This programme is targeted at America, and has an overnight presenter doing it. It doesn't add up!

Well it's more of a BBC World issue as they run the overnight content on the News Channel. Haven't been up watching at that time in the morning for a while, is it still a dual header between N8 and Washington?

No dual header between N8 and Washington. Just the overnight presenter in London (usually James Dagwell when I watch). There is World Business Report in the last 15 minutes of the programme, with Rico Hizon from Singapore. A very substandard, poor programme, really. It should be improved an awful lot, especially as it is targeting a large American audience.

Except that BBC America, who I believe were the channel that originally commissioned that 10pm ET edition of World News Today, replaced it with a replay of World News America from 7pm ET. That's why it's not double headed and down to the overnight presenter, cos it's had a lot of it's budget cut out of it.

Even still, it doesn't match up to the same standards as the rest of the World News Today programmes. Changes definitely need to be made. Viewers in America that are watching BBC World News will feel let down by this disastrous programme.

I though it was US breakfast time news that BBC America had axed, or is this on top of that (and the US edition of Newsnight)

Weird how the likes of CNN and AlJazerra English have multiple shows produced away from their main base, yet BBC World can only manage 1 hour (BBC World News America)

World News Today was the first to feel the axe. BBC America axed it after about 6 months. I was unaware they'd axed the breakfast news programming recently, but a selection of PBS stations do air the 6am ET bulletin at 6am local time. PBS stations can also take the 6pm ET time bulletin as well, and I believe the 11pm ET bulletin also gets aired on some PBS stations.
