I think they started playing a ore-recorded forecast then cut to the end of a live one by the looks of it as there was the website and red button information

Looks as though they cut (rather abruptly) to the live feed of the studio, as the forecast shown was pre-recorded.

First time I've seen it - looks a darn sight better than two presenters cramped around the tiny table they put where sport is usually presented!

Sportsday is on twice on a Saturday. As for the original question it's not the first time they've done it from the desk - I saw it like that a few weeks back but I still think it's fairly recent.
