Personally I don't like the 'glass and steel' effect on the Breakfast backdrop. There's enough of that boring, mass-produced, non-descript architecture around the country to look at already, without it being on our television screens 24/7 as well.

Surely you cannot see these 'glass and steel' effect buildings properly as their true impact isn't available for viewing during your nocturnal hours, Chie?

They may look very nice in daylight.

Eh?

News Channel just started WNA - but it was stretched so we had 2 BBC logos at the bottom, then there was a NC sting and it went to Click.

What gone wrong?

Looks like it was recorded in 4:3 for some reason and they thought it'd be easier to put Click on rather than keep going in the wrong ratio or flip the switch that gives out a cut-out ala ABC World News.

Still no reference to News Channel of the Year on graphics.

How very modest!

Found this, don't know if anyone else has seen it, quite interesting look at the BBC newsroom backdrop. It actually looks better when it isnt on Barco screens.

Before being placed in the position it was when the channel launched, I think the desk looks much better positioned in the middle - it would've allowed space on either side for reports/weather/Sportsday etc. The backdrop also looks sharper here, compared to the final revision.

Is there a grey band on the front of the desk there or is it a reflection?

Not an easy switch to flip - as the conversion from 12F12 to 12P16 is done as the ABC World News feed comes into the building - before it is recorded - not as it is played out. (It isn't a switch in the gallery)

I don't know if they have any ARCs in the galleries any more - they used to have them for playout of 4:3 VT content (when BBC World shows were still made in 4:3) but everything should now be made in 16:9. (Outside Sources are ARCed as they come into the building - though sports channels from satellite cause issues as they change ratio)

the background was probably photoshopped onto the screens for the publicity stuff, don't get your hopes up
