Haha. Peter Sissons still can't get it right. He just said "BBC News 24", then corrected himself.

I am sure they still call it "24". In fact, I would bet a fiver so! And I am sure they all refer to Peter Sissons as "Peter", and not "Sissons", as we appear to have been doing here on the forum for months now.

If there's anything on reading this forum that makes me feel uneasy (apart from the rota threads), it's the referral to newsreaders by their first names. I don't know where this "matey" attitude has come from, but in most walks of life, discussions of others in professional capacities (i.e. reading the news) is best done by surnames or both names.

It actually makes my skin crawl to read statements like: "Fiona did a great job there handling that item....". You don't know these people!

Plus just saying "peter" means I have to consult my desktop rota and cross reference the post time with it.

Unless of course it's followed by the words "fluffed everything up again" then I know it's sissons instantly Smile

Peculiarities tonight ....

BBC One News started at 5.50PM (from BBC NC Studio)

Bafta Red carpet Special ran till 6pm

Now we have World simulcast on the NC.

Wonder when NC will revert from BBC World.

Also the News Channel countdown didn't actually have a countdown on it (and no it wasn't the filler version used for opts).

Oh yes, I remember him. The AJE man now? Yes, you are correct. Sissons is more charming than Simmons.
