Sidetrack a while, just a technical question, is it possible to key in virtual backdrop behind an anchor without the use of green/blue screen? Etc, over a real newsroom behind the anchor. Confused:

Who, may I ask, is Babita?

Also, what happened to the likes of Julia Caesar and Declan Curry? Don't they present on NC any more? Today on BBC World, Juliette Foster is the duty newscaster. She is really good actually, as is Maryam Moshiri, who also presents frequently.

Don't know about Julia Caesar but Declan Curry now presents Working Lunch.

Julia Caesar is no loss to the channel, very wooden presentation style.

Julia still occasionally reports but doesn't present any longer.

Cannot believe that its almost a year.

I think that all of it is so stale already, especially after seeing the titles and set for things like BBC Persian. Why didn't we get something like that?

Oh, and I miss the little walk forwards that the sport presenters used to do just after the relaunch. Now they just stand there.

Would be nice to see split presentation like they used to do on News 24, with one presenter at the desk discussing the story and then hand over to the news wall or screen for some more information.

The presentation is far too 'desk based' IMO.

As tvmerica has pointed out in the Midlands thread, David Lowe was interviewed on the Janice Long show on BBC Radio WM yesterday. I've extracted the interview as an MP3, and deleted the bits in between for anyone interested. He talks about the development of the BBC News themes. Sorry about the quality - the online stream is only 44kbps. Download from Here.

Has Dan Pallett finished at the NC now, as he did Midlands Today tonight?

Jesus she is a gobby cow. There is no way I could sit and listen to her show. She seems to love the sound of her own voice and talks all over her guest.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but watching the NC last night, it looked as though there is a new, faster headline wipe.

Babita Sharma I think she's called - an occasional business presenter on the BBC News Channel. Rather attractive if I may be so bold...
