Is it just my television or has the BBC News Channel got all of its music at the wrong pitch/ tone? The beeps during the countdown sounded too deep and the titles sounded really weird.

Fairly new tv, watching on Sky, no settings have been changed. Thanks.

Do you have a cold, the flu, etc.? The beeps always seem to lower in pitch when you're poorly.

Are the BBC going to do any maintenance work on those BARCO screens in N6? They look like crazy paving at the moment behind the presenters and on the wall where the sport is presented from, it actually looks really bad. Surely it isn't that difficult to colour match/brighten the screens so they look close to matching one another? TC7 is OK so why does N6 look so bad?

Have you tried? I think you'll find it's a lot more difficult than you expect. It's not a matter of setting the contrast and brightness to the same on each of the projectors.

Please change the record!

if it was so easy they probably wouldn't have just spend a fortune refitting TC7 with all new self correcting screens that they'd installed in N8 and Arabic. did that not perhaps hint that its difficult?

Surely the money would have been better spent refitting the screens in N6?

maybe they had a large chunk of this years budget to use up and decided to splurge it on TC7 rather than risk a cut next year and therefore have the money for N6 in a few months. Maybe it was because TC7 was offline over christmas whereas N6 wasn't. Or maybe it was purely to spite you and your constant whining, I know where I'd put my money.

N6 is usually occupied all day except for overnight broadcasts, whereas TC7 has long periods, such as Saturdays after Sportsround, making it easier to refit the screens. Plus TC7 was offline all over Christmas while N6 kept going.

Also it was only last year they spent a huge amount on N6, whereas TC7 just got a new desk. Also N6 only covers two programs - the news channel and national bulletins, where as TC7 covers a vast array of programs, meaning it would be harder to match the backgrounds to the screens for each program. The other option of trying to set all of the manual settings for each screen would be harder than in N6 because there are so many more screens.

Besides there's nothing to say that N6 won't get new screens at some point in the future!

To be fair you only really notice it in N6 when the background has a light colour spanning more than one screen (i.e. when interviewing someone). It's not really noticeable on the usual newsroom backdrop which is all you see most of the time. TC7 has a much bigger array of backgrounds that it has to display on a daily basis so makes more sense to update first. N6 i'm sure will follow when it's deemed necassary to update.

The weather on the six from TC7 did show up that the screens there still aren't perfect, but a hell of a lot better than those in N6.

I remember when they first moved the NC into N6, there was a hug gash in one of the screens behind the presenters, which was fixed - I never found out what caused that, one of the screens just has a smudge in the corner of it now Wink but not too noticeable.

It would be helpful for my records if you could draw a diagram illustrating the location of the screen in question, and the attributes of the smudge itself. Please respond.
