The switch from N8 to N6 happened at 10:56 - in the middle of a live press conference. Switched from a World split-screen with World ticker and BBC News DOG / clock on top to a full screen of the news conference and no graphics in an instant. Ticker / graphics then reappeared. World closed their bulletin for a fresh TOTH at 10:59.

BBC News been excellent in covering this story. Have been watching both BBC News and CNN via Freeview and whilst CNN was what you would come to expect from them, BBC News has been top notch too. Good decision to stay with the story via a BBC World News simulcast and let the 10 air exclusively on BBC1.
If they keep doing that when important breaking news occurs, there will be no complaints regarding BBC News simulcasts.

Apart from if its important UK only breaking news that isn't being covered by BBC World News. In fact, forget the word important and replace it with interesting.

This is one of few stories that warranted it really - though arguably by 10pm the main facts had all been established anyway. I've always said that if the news isn't important enough to break into the main bulletin it can wait until it's finished.
It's not just a problem for the simulcasts too - it's an issue across the schedule for all news channels - it's very annoying when you tune in to catch the days main headlines but all channels are covering some often fairly unimportant breaking news in detail instead.
