How come Maxine is on her own tonight on BBC News 24? Is this due to a few simulcasts with BBC World News in the front half hours?

If only they planned it like that!! It was a major rota cock up. They sent Ben Brown out to Gaza (he'll be there tomorrow I think) and forgot to cover him!!! Doh!

Bet they were VERY grateful it was Maxine on-shift in that case.

Nice to see Alan Johnston brought in during the BBC News at Five o'clock, to give his insight into the Gaza conflict, today and I bet he's glad he isn't there now.

Oh dear, thought it was a little strange. Was starting to think there had been another round of cuts at BBC News and they'd gone single headed in the evenings (which would be a bad thing if you ask me).

Interesting move there - NC opted out of the Six straight after the title sequence to wait for the cricket press conference. Why go to the Six at all - that must have been one extremely late decision!

Don't think so - you could hear Emily leaving during the weather.

They did this the day the Jonathan Ross / Russell Brand thingy exploded into a bitter row too. Took the Six headlines and titles then just pulled away. Wonder whether it's to do with Gallery staff change or simply because sometimes the Five goes right up to 6pm with not much time to swap over.

[Don't get me wrong, I like Dom, hes hilarious when let loose on The Chris Moyles Show over on Radio 1. But Oddbox just doesn't quite work. It looks cheap, and is like a news special of You've Been Framed. Whilst StoryFix was a great watch. Shame we are unlikely to see a return of the fix.

Agreed 100%. But the production values of Storyfix were part of its undoing. It took a disproportionate amount of editorial effort (for the length of the programme) to produce something that looked that slick. It was difficult then to justify the use of resources, and the newsroom has been downsized since which makes a return near enough impossible to justify IMHO.

Oddbox was never meant to replace Storyfix, and It's a bit unfair to expect it to, given the very limited resources they have in comparison.
