When BBC News moves to it's new premises (eventually), will this studio sharing continue, as it's torrable in the short term, however bad it looks in practice at times?

They ought to have some sort of 'mini set' to take the slack anyway(they used to have something similar in N8 before the change), but the main thing is the technical issues.

Even a 'cut down' version of the main mixer would allow the NC to opt when needed easily, without having to faff about, worrying about BBC One.

One thing thats always puzzled me for both BBC News & ITV News Channel when it was on, was the insistence of using the top/main studio set for it's terrestial bulletins, & sod the 'rolling news' side!

As a viewer, I just want a news bulletin on BBC One, with no flashy sets!

I think a mini-set (perhaps not in the same studio) would be beneficial. If they still plan to use Barco (typo?) screens for the main news studio once they move they could place the screens on the back wall, allowing it to look like the main news studio (in close ups).

How many screens are in shot on a MCU? Even a "mini-set" wouldn't be cheap.

The set isn't the hard part, it's a gallery.

I (along with thousands) have just turned on BBC News for the latest on the Gaza conflict....and we're met with an showbiz interview prog featuring Rachel Stevens and others, conducted by a man holding a stopwatch.

It wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't such a completely useless interviewer. Over to Sky News then.

This was the 'Best of Five Minutes with....'

Am I the only one who has never even seen an episode of 'Five Minutes with...'?

It should stay there. The limp E24 should join it.

That explains the massive non-safe area graphics.

I was going to say Oddbox should join it but I think that might be better off on the CBBC site.

And to think, its predecessor - Storyfix - was fantastic...

Don't get me wrong, I like Dom, hes hilarious when let loose on The Chris Moyles Show over on Radio 1. But Oddbox just doesn't quite work. It looks cheap, and is like a news special of You've Been Framed. Whilst StoryFix was a great watch. Shame we are unlikely to see a return of the fix.

I quite like Oddbox. Seems harmless enough, though it can feel a little bit out of place on a hard news day when it's chucked into Weekend Breakfast. Why do they do that at weekends? Little 15 minute newsy fillers like this are sprinkled all over the show...

Funny error just then with the replay of the morris dancer interview - started to play briefly and then failed, making a horrible sound as the guy's mouth opened and shut over and over. Jane and Matthew taken by surprise and not quite sure what they were going to. Talking about all the wonderful happy texts they'd received, and then Matthew said actually the only one left was about someone who had lost his job!

Quite the pair though Razz
