The BBC obviously doesn't realise DST ended in the US earlier today. A short time ago, a live broadcast from Washington DC with Jane Hill showed the local time on screen, but it was only 4 hours behind our time - it should now be 5 again after a week.

I wish they'd fix the wretched juddering ticker - its beginning to get annoying now!

Really? I'm sure you've not mentioned this before. Mad

I know, it has the Hippy Shakes. Wink

Thing is the Astons are now at it when they come on and off the screen.

Did you invent this eyeball-gougingly bad term?

That would be the Beatles.

That would be "Hippy Hippy Shake".

However, in reference to the ticker... where is the link between the two?

On a serious note though.

Shouldn't the evening backdrop newsroom be put up earlier on the news channel now the clocks have changed.

I only say because its pitch black outside come 8pm and they're still using the daytime backdrop in the winter months.

The night backdrop should be put on earlier at 8pm for example to give it a bit more continuity.

Isn't the Ten backing just a different way of lighting the newsroom to highlight the more moody/reflective nature of the Ten.
I don't think it's a 'window on the world' like the old N6 backings.
I think you'd be pretty pushed to see any 'outside windows' in the backing as it stands.

I'm sure there are two different backings - a daytime and nightime. ISTR a photo being put on here about a month ago where it broke so one half of the studio was daytime and the other nighttime, typically separated in between the two presenters.

Does anyone else find the E24 strands at 18:30 & 21:30 do nothing more than get in the way of the flow of the channel? I usually watch between 18:00 - 19:00 but i do find E24 annoyingly ill placed. It just doesn't serve a purpose where it is. I think if it was on at say 18:50 & 21:50 it might work better as its not inbetween more important segments such as business & sport. Or better still dispatch it over to BBC Three without delay. . .

I know there are 2 different backings, that was not my point.

My point was that the backings are not a 'window on the world', in simple terms, just becasue it's dark outside the backing should not necessarily be the darker one.

They are different becasue they are lit differently to help re-inforce the reflective nature of the TEN.
