Um, no! Would be tricky to get all that in one line! Just the main figures like ftse, Dow jones etc.
It would just show that they can innovate to keep up with stories. Sky have added another ticket above their usual one, which looks messy, but shows they can adapt. The BBC conversly do nothing new.
They moved the 'FTSE' graphic to the top right of the screen this evening. Looks better, but I prefer the suggestion of replacing the ticker with a static live update board, as and when.
Did look nice at the top - shifted it during Newswatch I think. However, I also believe that a 'flash' should go across the ticker and then it displayed static market information, or during analysis in the studio, it should be displayed on the wall.
So that new FTSE graphic they introduced a few days ago sitting above the strap is nothing new and not adapting then Moz
Well I hadn't seen that, so it shows how often they used it.
Having watched a bit more it seems to behave very strangely, only added to certain feeds. For example Matthew A was reporting from the City and it was on his feed, but when he spoke to someone in a market room the graphic disappeared.
They also use the famous News Channel trick of only putting graphical information on screen when they're actually talking about it, when it should be the other way round. If they're talking about the financial crisis story, they can put the figures on the main aston. When they move on to other news, it's
then
that they need additional graphics to keep the figures onscreen. For years they only ever showed breaking news graphics onscreen when they were talking about it. They moved on to another story and all reference disappeared. This has at last been rectified by the use of the red ticker, but they need to do more in this direction.
Nice to see Emily call the channel BBC News 24 this afternoon (though I missed her actually say it) and then correct herself before the weather, saying something like "...so that's another pound of the swear box, and today that pound could go a long way!", with Ben responding "How nice of you!" - great banter .
I still miss the Maitlis/ Brown partnership, I thought they worked quite well. Then again Ben has some good banter with Joanna Gosling too, so I won't complain

Well I hadn't seen that, so it shows how often they used it.
It's been on every weekday for almost two weeks now. It started above the main two-line supers on the left side; a few days ago, it shifted to a right alignment.
The day after it moved to the right, it was extended to reach the right edge of the screen, and a background graphic was added to it.
Given that it's been in use during every daytime hour of every weekday for at least the last two weeks, it seems the issue must be that you're not paying very much attention when watching the channel, rather than any issue of infrequent use.

Anyone else spot Jersey's regional tv studio and presenter appearing on the News Channel last night for the results of the vote to abandon GMT/BST and move to Central European Time?
I do love it when they use the overhead camera shots with the newspaper review section and you get to see the scripts of what the presenter reads with duration - really annoraky I know!
