I note the background appears to be a live feed, or at least you can see what appear to be lifts moving and other movement occurring.

It's all digital though, nothing you see is real. Go here to see how it's done (2005).

Good God. They've made a right pig's ear of it Rolling Eyes The last few seconds of the countdown are terrible. Gill Sans was a big mistake. Widescreen viewers are left with a huge gap on the left of screen. The fake video screen is boring, it's just got a white border and that's all there is to it. The 'Breaking News' isn't exciting enough. The text in the ticker looks too bold and that most certainly ought to be Swiss even if nothing else is.

The only things I like so far are the titles, idents and headlines. Otherwise - dire. Just dire.

Go back to school then?

You don't like other peoples' opinions, do you? Especially if they don't agree with yours. Now pipe down and stop being childish. Both of you.

I think it's a massive step backwards. We've lost the sophistication of the last graphics set, and instead have gone for mock-Powerpoint astons that don't properly show what the BBC paid Lambie-Nairn so much for. The straps all look clunky and bulky again, and are reminiscent of the set before relaunch in 2003.

The set is, however, nice. I'm worried though that it is quite dark, or maybe it's just comparison to the *aooga* set we've just sent off. The desk is very smart, and the background seems suitable.

The channel just seems to be missing something - like BBC management. I think they've missed a major opportunity to design a set of graphics that are miles ahead of the competitors, and instead seem to have rehashed a combination of Lambie-Nairn's original design, and Sky News' 2005 design. All in all, rather disappointing.

Nope, judging by your pic on metropol you'd fit in well.

The botox is obviously working then. So thank you. But, there's no need to tell people to 'go back to school' just because they don't like the new rebrand and don't agree with your personal opinion.

But it was your views that seemed to be of a 12 year old.. bit like 'looknorth' but your spelling was better.

I think the studio would look better if the background were not blurred. I'm not liking the blur.

If it was crisp, clear, and in focus, the impression of perspective and depth would be lost. If it was a real newsroom behind the presenter, it would also be blurred and out of focus. Assuming the presenter is in focus, that is.

Kate on BBC News At One. I love some of the shots they used today.
Also I think it wasn's so bad when she handed over to Ben.

What did Kate say when she handed over? How was it handled? How did they get rid of the BBC One audience first?

OK, let's start with the positives...

Well, it's a nice desk. And glad the centered version of the titles is being used for stings - looks so much better. The titles do look better on screen too.

But that's it.

Though the titles look better, it's a throwback to 1999 - and the box in the corner looks awful.

The sting at the end of the countdown is so obviously an after thought - it might be better if it was in the countdown itself, not three seconds after.

The studio - what a waste of space. Only one wall of it is now used, and where it's used as a background it's just grey and lifeless. The "screens" look terribly virtual too.

And the astons - absolutely hideous. N24 finally had them right with the last look, but now we've been thrown back to 1999 with just a block of colour and oversized text. Terrible - and the grey ticker with the LHS missing looks awful too, as does the Live / Location strap, which they appear to have forgotten to change. It's saying something when Sky News's are better - and even their last look was better than this.

So much wrong with it - one of the worst revamps I've ever seen, mainly because it's so pointless too.

No, it was a report on something else, I've forgotten what it was.

So why is there an inset of the titles? Did it change to something else?

At least it'll win RTS News Channel of the Year next year.
