I am beginning to think that the news is being 'over managed' currently.
Did the BBC really think it's anywhere possible that services would be restored through the Channel Tunnel today, after yesterday's fire? They were frequently suggesting this yesterday.
In addition surely the presenters know the rules about failed companies (XL business) and why they continue to question customers and staff of the failed business, about this does seem to be somewhat crass and insensitve.
I'm usually supportive of the Corporation but these events really haven't been covered well.

Hrmm, sporting some new glasses, as apposed to the last time I saw her.
Hah, and as I speak, the BBC News Channel cuts to a shot of an empty seat....

The filler is played until 01:46, after that it then fades to the 90 second countdown.
Interestingly, if you turn up the sound just before the globe appears, the director can be heard speaking, saying something along the lines of "...a menu loop would be lovely."

I take it that is the whole countdown, the first part looks like its cobbled together!

Or rather, cuts to it. Odd how they both feature the red satellite streams, yet the countdown portion is the only one to have actual sound effects added to them.
You can also tell when it switches from the 'filler' version to the countdown because of the sudden jump from Mono to Stereo. Is the filler always Monoaural?

I knew there was an almost-silent twittering in the right channel before the filler kicks in; I may have detected it earlier but the volume controls on this compy of mine can't be pushed high enough to detect what is said, so it needed further boosting.
As much as I can get, is something along the lines of:
"...2 please I know there's nothing there right now, I know [there] won't be for a few more seconds...Menu loop would be lovely...Coming to 6C sound and vision please, take 6..."
...And that's all I get, before the (comparatively blaring) filler music fades up and deafens my straining ears - brilliant!

Yeah, that's just about what I heard. As you say, even at the highest volume it's relatively hard to make out what is being said!
It’s not the first time I've noticed this though, I've heard the odd few mutters during the opt-in and out of World News on numerous occasions, usually whilst the weather globe is on screen.

What a strange countdown into the BBC One simulcast. A normal countdown, with the breakfiller music, and then the music cut out.

I wish the news channel would pack its bags and head straight for N8 I hate the news channels current set its plain dull and boring they should have made it more detailed to make N6 work maybe some metal bars/wood or carpet on the floor and the worst thing of all is the backdrop its like 2003 national news re-visited a screenshot or a realistic newsroom backdrop would be nice. If I was in charge I would have moved world to TC7 all TC7 shows to N6 and news channel and national news to N8 It would look cool with that new projector screen last of all take N9s plasma home
