Well what an utter mess of a 2pm TOH.

Firstly, the VT wouldn't play so you had poor old Sophie and Ben in a Daze of what to do. Then all the graphics went up the shoot not matching the VT when it started to play. Spelling errors all over the place "SPPED CAMERAS", "MADOLEINE". When we eventually get to the studio after the titles, they opt to a shot of Ben whilst Sophie is greeting the viewers and he has to abruptly cut in not sure what to do.

Come on Gallery - what is it with TOH sequences being fluffed up on that channel?

Did someone record it out of interest?

You have been told several times that doing the TOTH live in the manner they do is incredibly hard. Given I have watched several TOTH sequences today that didn't go wrong, I would have to argue your exaggerating and labouring a very boring point.

Well said. I can't help but think Worzel is just trying to wind people up - what exactly is the point in catalouging every little mistake made by the BBC on here and then pretending it happens all the time?

I have to say they have improved dramatically, but I still argue the reason they still have these fluffs is because of the thunderclaps. There's no need for them!

Funny how I never see these types of mistakes on any other news channel. I can't remember the last time Sky cocked up so badly.

I would love to see how things would go with Worzel in the directors seat, as the way he goes on he must thinks its the easiest job on the planet.

Worzel, please redirect your broken record to the BBC. Instead of firing a message off to here everytime you see the most minor of cockups on the news channel, send it to those who can do something about it.

Don't you remember his fifteen seconds of fame?!

[He got a e-mail about how N8 had been "falling to pieces" - sound familiar? - and N6 was so much better read out in the first morning post-relaunch, and posted the YouTubed video here. His record's been broken ever since]

Some people just want to see change every five minutes. And of course had News 24/News Channel remained in N8, and were using the modified version now occupied by World, there would be some complaining that the BBC's news service was coming from essentially a 5 year old set that was 'looking tired' and 'falling to pieces.' All this coming from those who think they can do a better job than the professionals.

Hence they should change something to make it easier for themselves!

Exactly. They rarely had problems in their old set and BBC World News never seems to cock it up.

Get rid of the thunderclaps would be one bonus.

Yes, that is the point.

Worzel is dull, we all know that, but his one contribution to this website is actually valid - there are far more mistakes than before.

Of course it isn't easy, I'm sure even Worzel underneath that arrogance knows that, but clearly there are things that can be changed to make it easier - as mentioned above, maybe removing thunderclaps is one.

Mistakes are rare now, but compared to before, there are more.

And that was the only point I was trying to make.

Please don't start personal attacks on people because it isn't nice.

I am not dull thank you. If you can make that judgement by just being on a forum then thats pretty low.

I know I'm going to be flamed for this, but sobeit

I, and I'm sure most of us here, fully appreciate that TOTH headline sequences are difficult. There is a lot of video to get to play at the right time, audio to sync up, graphics, titles and straps to apply. It's a high pressure environment in which most people would fail to provide perfection 100% of the time.

But that's just it. If it can't be relied upon 100% of the time, it just shouldn't be live. Newsnight's opening always looks fantastic. You never get any gaffes there. But it's prerecorded, so the pressure's not off, but is significantly lower. If 1 minute of TOTH was recorded during the weather then any problems could be rush-sorted out and if all DID go titsup there's still the opportunity for it to be broadcast live as a last resort.

Now obviously this isn't perfect and doesn't allow time for presenter switchovers, but an extended weather bulletin and a few more promos could easily fill that buffer every four hours.

Long and short of it is if it can't be done, don't do it.

It just makes the channel look shít.
