On the subject of mistakes etc... Nicola Sturgeon when interviewed live earlier in the day was captioned as Nicola SURGEON lol.

Peter Sissons said on Saturday (can't remember what time, about 1830 I should think) "Glastonbury Festival is in full swing this evening with the American Rapper Jay- Zed as the headline act" LOL! Laughing

To be fair, that is the British pronunciation of his name.

Well I've never heard anyone refer to him as Jaz-Zed. Only Jay-Zee. I'd have thought that as the chap's an American we should all call him Jay-Zee and pronounce the name as they do.

We don't call the Master of son et lumiere John Michael Jarre do we..?

Why would we, when his name is clearly spelt Jean Michel Jarre which implies a different pronunciation?

I think you chose a bad example with which to attempt to humiliate Mr Sissons.

Oh dear. I wasn't attempting to humiliate anyone, particularly Peter Sissons. A classic example of how humour doesn't work on t'internet. I simply posted because I thought it was amusing that's all. Amusing in the same way that we laugh at Ian Hislop on HIGNFY when he clearly is out of his depth with pop music and football etc. No doubt the gallery chuckled a bit too when he said that, corrected him, then he got it right for the rest of his shift. Perhaps we could move on?

Me too... although possibly with a hint more irony than Sissons.
