The CSO used for the sports headlines looked awful. How come it is so bad. Is this the same screen as used for the 8pm update?

It comes from the same CSO studio as used for 60 Seconds, the BBC One daytime summaries, and the news interactive loops. The 8pm summary comes from a proper studio.

Seems strange that it looks so awful for the sports headlines. Could this just be due to lighting being set for someone who is not as tall as the sports presenter?

I take it the 8pm summary has to come from a studio due to 60 seconds being on air around the same time?

^ last friday... that ticker problem is happening on BBC World also, but they just left it there.

-----------

i thought they need to rest the bacro screens during overnight?
because even i'm watching from the internet i still see those cracks, i think those are the edges of the squares...

I thought it was said they don't need to rest them as it causes more trouble switching them off and back on again than it does keeping them on in the first place. At least this was the case before the rebrand.

Either way, I imagine that short term overnight use would not be a problem. I think maintenance and the higher staffing levels required for N6 was the reason it was generally not going to be used overnight.

Yes, I heard that and think it's the same. They're permanently on.

The daytime summaries look just as bad. The reason 60 Seconds used to look so good in there was because it had a blue background - so any blue spill on the presenters from the CSO backing looked natural, and the new 60 Seconds backing isn't that bad either. The daytime / news channel sport backings are a bit lighter and don't have a blue component so any spill is really obvious.

The CSOs are just pre-set - the presenters set their own lighting and camera framing (or get someone to help them do it)

Yep - though it is also in a very peak-time slot on BBC One - and gets upwards of 5 million viewers most nights...

Nick's attempt at remembering the web address didn't go according to plan, bless.

"...and you'll find us, right there." I very much doubt it!

How can he find it that hard to say the address, you don't even need to say 'www.'!

Nick always gets the web address wrong. It's usually either bbc.co./news or ww.bbc.co/news

I even recall him admitting he finds it hard to remember on screen but oh well so long as they don't give him any shifts on World News, since that'd be yet another thing to remember!

May sound silly, but why don' they have the web address painted / postered up somewhere in the studio. Maybe near the clock, or maybe on a label stuck to the top of their computer monitors.
