Was that a sombre version of the Olympics closing theme I just heard at the end of the 6?

Jane Hill presenting Dateline today despite Shaun Ley presenting the 10:00-14:00 shift.

Suggests that Jane is the new fulltime presenter rather than Shaun.

I wouldn't call it yet through as Jane Said at the end of today's edition that Shaun is doing next week's Dateline.

That could be because Jane was at Westminster today and naturally couldn't be in the studio to present Dateline.

Bit of an issue just now where it sounded like the Gallery talkback went to air with the director talking someone through the mixing desk sources, to the bemusement of Anita McVeigh.

Bit of an issue yesterday as well, when the ticker said Phillip Hammond had been hurt in a crash whilst filming The Grand Tour.

Can't believe BBC News have been broadcasting 'Click' and all the other rubbish over the past couple of days. Literally they were about to announce new Deputy PM and they went to Click!?!? Sorry BBC, I am going to Sky.

It gives the journos back at BH 30 mins breathing space to call up contributers and research the background/policital life story of the new Deputy PM, ready to go with the breaking news once Click has finished - and in the meantime, let the ticker handle the breaking news.

I'm sure if anything important broke while the back half hour fillers are on, they'd break into it.

On a related note, when going through the Papers this morning Andrew Marr mentioned a couple of times how it was the Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond, despite the paper in question mentioning the Grand Tour as part of the front page.

I think Spectacular1 means Damian Green who's been appointed First Secretary of State (basically number two to the PM, so a kind of Deputy Prime Minister).

Ben Brown nearly introduced Philip Hammond for the weather earlier, before correcting himself to Philip Avery.
