You can't beat the 2000 Today version though… nice long intro with the camera swooping over to the news desk, that ominous music bed, fantastic titles that were only used for one day, Michael Buerk shouting the headlines in your face

Utterly brilliant.

Hasn't the dum dum headline returned on Newsday?

BBC News Channel covering fireworks to launch Hull City of Culture that were supposed to launch at 20:17, they have had to fill for a good five minutes.

23:25 weather bulletin on the NC, presented by Sarah Keith-Lucas, who was clearly looking the worse for wear after the New Year celebrations. Very Happy

Off topic but relevant to the image, when does MetroGroup take over from the Met Office?

I believe it's April. Tweaked graphics are, I believe, being user tested at the moment.

Well, that wasn't a great start then! And neither was the 90 minute delays the Hull Daily Mail are reporting traffic had when leaving the event.

Would imagine Murdochs sales are down in the region today

The national Daily Mail offended us too with a similar headline. The Mirror will be happy if this means more people will read their paper... they also own the Hull Daily Mail, so it might be a smart move for them to print an advert (with money-off coupons) in the HDM, under a headline of offering a paper which doesn't disrespect our city?

Scroll down to the comments, they actually allowed comments criticizing the article and praising the city to be published.

Bit of a stretch, that headline. SCRAPital? It's City of Culture, not Capital of Culture.

If only something rhymed with city...

Well, they could've said Zipper (swear word that I can't say because of the filter) Zipper of Culture, but that would cause it's own problems.

Apparently the comments in the Hull Daily Mail were removed on this and another related article as they were quite venomous and approaching libel towards Murdoch the Sun & SKY - or possibly too near the truth to print.
