Video?
Visibly embarrassed Gavin Esler on BBC news after they play out the wrong BBC children in need report. However Television centre looked rather resplendent.

The slug was probably similar.
That was bizarre. How easy would it to be to pull the 2011 report out of the system by mistake?

And the NC is back to the situation of standing next to a wall while it waits for the overrunning tennis on BBC1 to finish in order for the evening news to start.
I don't get why the evening weekend news can't come from D in order to reduce disruption on the news channel and could also save a presenter with the national presenter continuing with the London news.

Some of these trailers that they are now looping have been played 4 or 5 times in the last hour

I've just caught up on the posts from the past few weeks, about the US Election: BBC One was already simulcasting election coverage from New York which is also on World News and the News Channel so considering how events played out that is normal. Breakfast wasn't shown the morning following the General Election or the EU referendum so why should this be any different? About the tram incident, I don't know what would be best there. I guess pushback could have been used or having a "BREAKING" strap on the ticker and pushback when the story got more serious with more information.
There are legal reasons why the media can't report certain information in the UK. It may influence any court case and could jeopardise the case, especially concerning the jury. People have posted about this before but haven't quite realised the consequences it can have.

The difference being that Breakfast had been scheduled to be on air, with a studio, presenters and crew twiddling their thumbs in Salford and regional teams ready to go too.
Not difficult to at least drop in some UK focused bulletins on BBC 1 and let the election coverage continue uninterrupted on the News Channel when all of the resources required to do so are available.

If you're referring to the tram crash, then if that had happened on a regular day, there'd have been saturation coverage, and speculation all morning, just as past similar accidents have had. I suppose thanks to Trump's (was it such a surprise ?) win we can be thankful they didn't go to that extreme.
Talking of legalities though, I was surprised to see the drivers face not pixelated out on that video that emerged on Saturday ?

Considering he had been suspended at that point, and being able to see his eyes was essential to demonstrating he appeared to be asleep, I suspect the lawyers cleared it as in the public interest. They didn't otherwise identify the driver, and his face had already been published online (and in The Sun itself?).

The point that I was making with regard to the lack of even a mention of the tram crash was that twice every hour all morning after 09:00 BBC World News broke away from the coverage for 4 minutes for a weather forecast and advertisements - offering the BBC News Channel a chance to mention domestic stories including the tram crash.
Yet the BBC News Channel didn't use that time to do so until 12:26.
That's what I found bizarre.
