The Archers has been in the news because it's been portraying a very real storyline and it's had a positive impact in real life. It's a worthy news story, not just there to be plugged, unlike a story about Strictly. The Archers has been in the news a few months ago as well, because of the same story. I think EastEnders has had a report on it when they've had a big story, that reflects real life. It's important that these kinds of stories are in the public domain and everyone hears about them even if they don't watch/listen to the programme concerned. It may actually strike a cord with them and allow them to get help, which they may have been scared about.

It's always frustrating when the news is used to promote other BBC shows, Strictly and The Archers isn't news in the mainstream sense.

Over thirty years ago people were saying the same thing about Who Shot JR.

A bit of investigative work and it looks like Scotland added the clock in themselves, presumably by accident. It doesn't appear on the NC feed and wasn't on BBC One East either, whilst it appeared even in the local headline insert in Scotland.

Yes I was watching BBC One Scotland. It disappeared about 22:03. I'm guessing it's something to do with Breakfast.

It's 23:10 and I've just seen the contact details for Victoria Derbyshire on the ticker.

BREAKING NEWS

The BBC have announced a full scale rebranding of BBC News with a nod back to the hugely popular "ribbons" era branding. With modern advances in graphics technology meaning the on-the-fly rendered titles will look more realistic than ever.

I think your irony/joke detector may have failed deejay! The image in the linked news articles looks like part of the old news opening.

Well thank you ... yes, actually my joke/irony detector did fail and it's not normally something I have a problem with Smile
