Just seen a promo pop up for Afternoon Live (though it may well have been on air for quite a while as I don't tune into BBC News frequently) and can't say it does the show justice. The choice of music and use of jokey, giggling clips make it seem more like a comedy programme than a news bulletin and doesn't really highlight the fact that Simon McCoy is a bloody good journalist.
Victoria Derbyshire which is on the NC only this week and out of Studio B was from a room in the old wing of BH which used to be the waiting room for audiences using the radio theatre.
Pretty sure VD was in B for an inset into breakfast about 08:25.
I've just looked back on iPlayer and it looks like the media cafe to me. They've used it before I think.

Technically it's a section of the Media Cafe, which is often used by waiting audiences, that can be partitioned off. It's used for internal meetings, presentations and public hospitality too.
I am here....on set but due to “technical” difficulties we are unable to go on air at the moment. The engineers are firefighting. Hopefully I’ll join you for #BusinessBriefing in 11 mins. pic.twitter.com/11JsLYqZ8Z
Someone decided they'd shown enough of a report on the climate change protests just there, fading the sound on the VT out and cutting back to a slightly unprepared Vicky Young who wrapped up with "That was, err, Sonia there. I think."
Occasionally, if the programme timings are messed up, an “early-out” is taken on a package. You have to be a bit careful to ensure viewers don’t miss a key bit of information or interviewee, but it’s often just before the last few script lines or standard out cue. Sometimes it’s mid-package and the end of a sentence but that can seem much more obvious (I didn’t see this example but it sounds like this happened) and sometimes the sound op does a very swift manual fade on the out words. This is also known as “potting out” or “taking a pot” - which I assume comes from radio, pot being an abbreviation for potentiometer (fader).
Been a few timing issues on the News at One today. Sophie had to start headlines before the music and the Sport headlines cut into the recap before the locals
