This BBC World angle really is terrible at a time like this when more than the usual 5 people might be watching the news channel on a Wednesday night. The UK’s PM is going to talk about the UK’s future etc etc.
Totally agree, hate this international look at our domestic affairs on our BBC News Channel
Outside Source is the worst of the BBC World News shows, they could have picked Impact, GMT, Global, but no they give us this on screen gimmicks show instead.
I agree entjrely, but if they were to simulcast any of those programmes it would disrupt the daytime schedule.
Show Impact at 1pm as alternative and let people watch Bbc news at one on bbc one.
Get rid of Victoria Derbyshire on BBC News Channel and simulcast an hour of GMT in its place, if people are desperate for lovely stories they can tune into bbc two.

The whole point simulcasting with world is to save money. To do so in hours in which the content is already simulcast and would still have to be made would cost extra rather than save money. The only realistic alternative would be either simulcasting the 2pm hour and moving afternoon live to 3-6 (and studio C) and therefore eliminating the five or simulcasting the 5pm hour of global. Personally I'd go for the former option so that talking business was shown on the NC.

Hideous show, can't bare it and whoever made the call to air it last night needs to wake up.
As someone else said - at times like these we really need a focussed news channel with FULL focus on developments as and when they happen.

I would put World News Today in the 8PM slot daily and simulcast The Nine axing Beyond 100 Days, having an hour of in depth news and analysis, as well as business, sports and the arts
I like Beyond 100 Days as a concept but it needs a new name and needs to be more flexible and not have to shoehorn in a token Trump story every edition.
A domestic version of Outside Source would be better than the current situation. Perhaps they should run two versions simultaneously with the option of joining together for the big stories and/or in the back half hour.
I like that they mix up the presentation from hour to hour on the news channel as it would be very bland otherwise with every hour presented from the same desk.
It's good to have a bit of an international perspective on the NC but an hour of Outside Source isn't the right format for it.
I don't watch the NC on a regular basis in the evenings, but I've been surprised at how much World simulcasting there has been over Brexit in the evenings recently. Fair enough simulcasting NC content on World for a big UK domestic story (e.g. Andrew Neil or Huw Edwards live from Westminster, as last week) but 2 hours of Outside Source every night this week?
It's getting to the stage where they might as well simulcast World on the NC from 7pm - 6am and send the NC teams home early every night.

The on duty NC presenter must have been a bit peed off last night. On air for 5 minutes at 6:30pm, then not back on again for another 4 hours!

Martine Croxall clocked up less than 20 minutes screen time between 6pm and 11pm and it's unlikely we'll see her again before midnight.
