A real flurry of activity for the political staff as I had the TV on in the background from about 11:15 to 13:30 today:

- John Pienaar with Theresa May for her speech in Birmingham,
- Norman Smith was at the Cabinet Office (not sure why?), then on to the Leadsom base in Westminster,
- Vicky Young at the Leadsom office ahead of Norman, then back at Millbank doing interviews and two-ways on news channel (and filed a Theresa May profile report for the One o’clock news)
- Adam Fleming at Houses of Parliament for comment from the 1922 committee chairman, and two-ways with the news channel,
- Laura Kuenssberg was also outside parliament asking questions but not on-screen as such (presumably speaking to sources and trying to pull everything together),
- Ian Watson was at the Angela Eagle Labour leadership launch and did two-ways for news channel,
- Ben Wright filing the first report on the day's developments for the One o’clock news on developments.

Of course, The Daily Politics was airing as well so presumably Adam Fleming (and maybe others) were feeding into it as things developed too.

Sounds like a fast-moving logistical nightmare!

Don't forget BBC World News was on air too, carrying all of it live and with Rob Watson at Millbank providing comment and analysis. And yes, it was a logistical nightmare.

I guess they've rendered a 10% brightness contrast with fade shade and flipped it upside down to appear on the floor.

Easy to do with a screen image, difficult to do with a human.

He has a reflection in the glass of the table...

Yes, but because the glass is actually there so the presenter is actually being reflected - I'm sure someone from Broadcasting House has posted an image on here before of the green screen set without the desk and there's a circle shape with a reflection of the set floating where the glass of the physical desk is, which then lines up when the desk is there. Obviously nothing in the rest of the set reflects anything, so they can't achieve a reflection of the presenter in the floor.

EDIT: Also, what happened to the Newsnight repeat tonight? Instead of it we had a full half hour of news at 11pm,, and then a bumper half hour of The Papers after that. Newsnight is back in the schedule tomorrow - was this a one off because of today's news?

Could they not get the presenter in Studio A to stand on a long mirror positioned to capture their full reflection. I know there might be lights reflecting also, but would be small in number and could be turned off for the small time it's in shot. They could even create a small green wall right behind the mirror to keep the keying in full reflection.

Then again would it be worth it for such a short time on air?

It normally happens if Newsnight is extended, which usually means the news has been significantly important to justify an extra edition of The Papers, but this wasn't the case last night.

Major reshuffle going on for tomorrow, NC and BBC ONE simulcast likely from 1130-1830 EPGs being updated currently.

Not sure the News Channel would take the Daily Politics - they don't normally although they show PMQs live as part of their own coverage.

The simulcast is due to end at 16:10.

What is expected to happen between PMQs and 1610 or are they expecting the audiences with the Queen to be completed by then? I thought they happened slightly later in the afternoon.

11-1 on the NC tomorrow is a separate News Special with Jane Hill at Westminster which will include PMQs.

They talk about not having money and possibly cutting back even more on News Channel yet opt to produce separate coverage!

I think Tony Blair went straight from PMQ's to Buckingham Palace on his last day, so they can happen lunchtime/early afternoon. Perhaps not quite as early this time though as IIRC Her Majesty has an engagement in Cambridge in the morning

Here's the TV Forum thread from that day: http://tvforum.uk/thenewsroom/blair-leaving-brown-incoming-27-25482/

They cut Blair's speech at the end of PMQs short to go to Wimbledon.
