Here's the failed Sportday from earlier through to the apology and handover to the weather.

Looks like the wrong pre-rec was played down the line by Salford who then cued up the correct one but the gallery at NBH then decided to pull it completely or that they wouldn't have time for it so shelved it, and in the confusion Shaun thought they were returing to him for some breaking news.

The best bit is Shaun rushing through the intro to the Antarctica report!

I guess we don't normally notice that the midnight weather is live because it usually follows the Sportsday closing titles.

Aside from the mixup I really liked the first image with the red clouds on the weather forecast.

I think BBC News is having ticker issues, alongside some other technical issues with cameras/output etc. Last night, during the first broadcast of "Tuesday in Parliament" (at 2.30am), the ticker repeatedly "reset" itself for no reason and I think they eventually gave up with it because, towards the latter end of the programme, they just switched out the domestic channel's news ticker with that of BBC World's version (as it included a @bbcworld and @bbcbreaking reference which is not there on the UK version).

Thanks to the person uploading that failed Sportsday broadcast! Very Happy

It's probably been said before but Christian Fraser and Katty Kay on Beyond 100 Days are a very watchable pair... even if the programme title is becoming unwieldy.

For some reason, Asia Business Report and Sport Today are not being simulcast on the news channel at the 1.30am usual slot, instead it’s just repeating the Hardtalk recording from the last hour segment. This is not the first time it’s happened, with a Tuesday in Parliament earlier this week being rebroadcast at 3.30am when it’s normally only on at 2.30am. Possible technical issues causing running orders to loop and repeat to a previous hour?

EDIT; During the TOTH headlines from Mike at 2am, it played all of the Newsday tracks and showed the Newsday globe stings between each headline. Clearly some sort of issue with running orders on the system, i would not be surprised if the NC gets pre-recorded broadcasts of ABR and ST at 2.30am instead of Thursday in Parliament!

A fairly unusual event this evening, the near entire length of the countdown was shown prior to the News at Ten (from 85 seconds). I hope they show more of the countdown in the future, instead of only the last 30 seconds (as is the norm).

In regards to the countdown, I'd like to see BBC World's countdown used prior to the national bulletins, due to them having that unique sound effect played during their countdown at set times (maybe an extended World News countdown for News Channel, with more focus on journalists posted elsewhere and not so much on UK-based journalists?)

BBC News Channel has just gone off air - I think with sound issues. There was briefly an external aeriel shot of Broadcasting House followed by the globe apologies slide.

Edit: now back to recorded interview from BBC Breakfast earlier with Damian Hinds.

Complete with breakfast clock. This is more than a sound issue surely.

Probably just a ‘dirty’ recording of the interview is all they could grab at short notice. The problem seemed to be the audio getting trapped into a feedback loop, sounded as if they were trapped in a very deep echo chamber

Today the NC seems to have turned into nothing more than a sequence of recaps of 'Strictly' (lasting 5 minutes), and a seemingly endless promo for SPOTY.

Not rolling news, more a BBC One barker channel. Rolling Eyes

I thought you'd be glad of the breather after the events of the past few weeks!
