So you’re whittling the regional news down from a half hour slot to 15 minutes? The 1830 programmes still rate very well indeed.
Stuart, DE88 and London Lite gave kudos

I have no doubt that in some regions a 15 minute news summary isn't considered important. *coughs, mutters the word "London"*. However, in parts of the UK which generally are underserved by the national news for one reason or another, such as Northern Ireland and Scotland, the full half hour is absolutely vital.

Was he not making a suggestion for the 10?

Interesting so Sport is from the Breakfast presenter and Business from the Today programme presenter. Who will be on Weather? Presumably Breakfast presenter rather than 5 Live Breakfast presenter.

Yes I meant that for the 10. But The Six should still have a more comprehensive hour of news without taking the 30mins or so regional news.

The NC biz presenter who'd be on at 11am would have finished Business Live at 9, so presumably no time for them to fit in a bulletin for the 9.

Watching Asia Business Report tonight and the straps that are being generated locally in Singapore are now animated (at least since I last watched!). They previously faded/cut on and off screen, and I think someone on here (deejay maybe?) explained when the new studio launched that the capability was there but that it was currently too much work for the tiny gallery team. Animations aren't *exactly* the same, the wipe that brings the straps on is a little abrupt and the live bug has the local time next to the location instead of the two alternating, but text transitions very smoothly (from name caption to story detail, for example) and looks to have been fairly nicely done!

If anybody actually wants that, can't they just watch the 5 on the News Channel?

The Six is a news hour, incorporating national and regional news. There originally was an end headline sequence from London too (which the nations didn’t take as I recall, doing it themselves) but this was dropped when the 8pm bulletin started. While there could be a reasonable argument now for a national news summary at the end again, I don’t think you’ll find anyone who would prefer 15 minutes of regional news then a paper review either in the BBC, or amongst the loyal 1830 viewers (recent figures show although it’s falling, along with most linear tv viewerships, it is still a strong audience).

And what papers would they review at 1845 anyway? By then, most national newspapers will be 24 hours out of date. Evening newspapers are few and far between these days and tend to be local ones like The Evening Standard and the Manchester Evening News.

Before the weather we had a look at whats coming up on VD. Then we had the "Morning Briefing" after BOTH headlines. which includes whats trending on the BBC website. Sports update at 9:40 shows sports headlines and back page newspaper headlines.

If they shorten VD by another hour, they've got it just about right.
