That is the way I suspect it will go. Victoria Derbyshire will he replaced with “10 o’clock Live” which is just a news bulletin with added David Lowe strings.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the 9-11am slot eventually gets rebranded as 'Morning Live', as it would fit in with their other branded sections (i.e. Newsroom Live and Afternoon Live). I wonder how long it is until Victoria Derbyshire's current contract expires/renews, as by cutting it to just an hour does feel like they plan to axe it but are seeing out her contract.

As for BBC Two longer term I can't help thinking it would be better if they could simulcast BBC World, at least until 11am. That way BBC Two would be offering something different to the News Channel, whilst presumably not costing much (due to being a simulcast).

Slightly strange, this. Breaking news, but the L3s aren't in red. *

That happens a lot nowadays with the breaking news banner, I think that's just because they're interjecting the script with a Breaking News element, but the system tries to change it to a normal news banner per the script. Confused

Victoria's claiming that the shortening is due to the £80million of cuts. Considering the programme was launched as a way to save money it would seem to have been a complete failure. I also don't see how opening E at 9 would allow for savings (unless Victoria's pay is being halved) so I'd say there's a significant possibility that this new 9am broadcast is a world simulcast from C, especially considering the second hour is usually mostly a repeat of the first hour.
Meanwhile they continue to have an evening shift where the presenter spends significantly more time off air than on air Monday-Thursday. It really is about time Sportsday was moved to 18:40 and the six extended to 40 minutes to allow the evening presenter to start at 8 (and even then they'd still get 90 minutes of a 3 and a bit hour shift off air).

BBC Two schedules are just truly appalling at the moment. The channel needs a huge overhaul. There used to be a time when it knew what it was for, now in 2018 I have no idea what the point of BBC Two is anymore.

Tuesday 8th November 2018 - 6.00am until 9.00am wall to wall repeats. 9.00am until 12.15pm a simulcast with BBC News Channel, including VD show. 12.15pm is the first BBC Two show Politics Live. 1.00pm until 6.00pm back to the repeats.

It is only from 6.00pm that we get proper new programming. So from 6.00am until 6.00pm where is 8 hours, 45 minutes of repeats and 3 hours, 15 minutes of news/politics, with the majority of it simulcast. What a waste of a channel.

I may be mistaken, but the pre-9am repeats are the Sign Zone, right? So there is at least some public service broadcasting going on there... I think they could give better exposure to some other news programming such as HardTalk which doesn't get a daytime airing on the news channel, but they stopped that for some reason...

60 minutes of that format is still way too much, but I wouldn't complain if the Derbyshire format was on at weekends instead.

I wouldn't complain if it disappeared completely in the next four months or so-you can keep weekends as they are thanks!

Off-topic here, but I'm sure there are *some* people who like the Flog It! repeats. Wink

The 9am GMT hour on World is two back-to-back half hour filler programmes (except Mondays when there is a 10 min news bulletin to start the hour).

They are simulcasting on Wednesday morning for a US Midterm elections special though, at 9am and again at 12 noon for an hour.
