Clive Myrie presenting Afternoon Live today, but given it's his first time on the show as presenter, he was standing at the sidewalk rather than near the desk, thus the opening showed the camera with nobody there. It did change over to where he was standing though.

On a different note, anyone notice that Hardtalk and Week in Parliament were presented from the same Millbank studio over the weekend?

Has he never watched the show before?

Where's a floor manager when you need one!

Did you capture it? And surely if it was his first time someone could have briefed him?

Apologies if this was already public knowledge (new poster, hello) - but did we know Victoria Derbyshire was being halved in length from Monday?

We were already aware, but you aren't the first the repeat info and you certainly won't be the last. Don't worry about it.

Baring in mind the slot is being branded as 'BBC News at Nine', I wonder if they'll revive the old '9' titles as used in the evening a few years ago?

'Tis what i'd do anyway.

Unfortunately not, sorry about that. I think the only reason this happened is because he was only broadcasting an hour bulletin to fill in until Politics Live started for their Budget special at 3pm. Confused

Indeed. He also did the One o'clock News so probably thought it easier for him to stay on an hour and give Simon the day off!

I can’t see Victoria Derbyshire lasting at this rate - it’s an awful lot of resource for just an hour long programme, yet has provided a nice way of slowly turning BBC Two mornings to a news channel simulcast.

I think in the case of Derbyshire it might be the other way round? I have a feeling that BBC Two might stump up some cash for Derbyshire (though I don't know if it's a commissioned show - unlike most other news programmes) So it's more a case of the News Channel simulcasting a News show commissioned by/for BBC Two than BBC Two taking the News Channel? (i.e. I'm not sure Derbyshire would exist if it weren't on BBC Two)

VD is a News Channel commission which BBC Two take as they have no budget for daytime (Politics Live is the only daytime commission). However I agree that the programme is aimed at a BBC Two audience rather than the NC.

Well the fact that it's running time is being reduced from 2 hours to an hour from Monday can't be a good sign-in fact i think it might be gone by the next round of cuts.

I was under the impression BBC Two did put some money into it, but I would be surprised if BBC Two isn’t also putting money into Newsroom Live, effectively paying for an hour of generic news channel.

That is the way I suspect it will go. Victoria Derbyshire will he replaced with “10 o’clock Live” which is just a news bulletin with added David Lowe strings.

On another note, perhaps this is a hint at who the next Question Time Host is....
