Obviously its more important that Our World is broadcast to time than a major unexpected event in Britain gets any coverage...

Sky News and Sky Sports News have been all over the air crash at the King Power Stadium.

It could be worse, BBC Radio Leicester has their Indie music show on.

BBC News channel slow at picking up on the Leicester City Helicopter crash, hasn't been mentioned yet but Sky News have been covering it for quite a while.

It had no mention at all on the BBC News website until about 21:15

Arguably the US story is the biggest of the two, whilst in parallel for most of the time with World, the Leicester accident is parochial in nature. It'll be caught up on in due course. Hard Choice but the madness in the US really has to be reported.

It really isn't to the UK audience. Mass shootings happen daily in the US whilst a helicopter crash at a Premier League football club which is part of modern sporting history and is actually a developing story really is worth the breaking news coverage, including main channel newsflashes IMO.

Where they are simulcasting World with breaking news which is actually developing UK news should take precedence. International viewers will understand they're watching the BBC.

I disagree. The primary audience of the UK news channel and World are different and they therefore prioritise stories differently. Ideally in these scenarios the UK news channel would be able to pull away from the simulcast and run their own broadcast- unfortunately I doubt there is a team around to handle outputting the channel with the resource required on a breaking story.

There actually is very little content to provide on the story. I've been listening to 5 Live and it has been largely speculation rather than fact.

Agree it should be covered - but don't see it as BBC One Newsflash territory.

But where it isn't possible for the UK to break-away the UK viewers should be prioritised as they are the ones paying for the BBC.
And it's completely inexcusable that it wasn't even mentioned before throwing to Our World even if you believe world should have priority.

You can tell it's a Saturday evening and BBC News and Sky News not putting much effort in. The fact Sky Sports were at the ground and we didn't get a live report until Sportsline is not good.

Steve Dixon led with the helicopter crash out of the 9pm TOTH with a few recorded pictures showing the wreckage and a fire and then said they'd come back to it later in the hour.

Sky Sports News were covering it with a reporter on the phone at the ground.

As of 10pm, Sky News seem to be rolling with it now with a reporter at the scene. BBC News channel is with the BBC One late evening simulcast with a very brief mention of the story (2nd on the running order).

As of 10:30pm BBC News channel are finally rolling with it. Martine Croxall came out of the half past sting with the newspaper guests with her and said we'd be having a look at the papers only for what appeared to be a last minute change of plan to roll with it.
