There was a new shot of Olly Foster from Russia in the TOTH before 11pm (at the 30s mark). There are probably many subtle changes to the previous titles, or just replacements for most of them to reflect more recent events.

Give me the countdown from 2000 anyday, not a fan of these personality led filmed countdowns.

How many are setup reporting especially in dangerous areas? Don’t see most reports being sent out with a B-Roll crew. Also how many liveshots take place using DSLR cameras?

That theme is now the longest-running countdown there’s been (more than five years) so it’s a shame we haven’t got some new music. Especially considering in the 00s we had new music every couple of years or so.

It is a bit of a travesty that the original 1999 countdown music lasted only until 2003 when significantly inferior versions have lasted much longer. The original was and always will be the best in my opinion. Real strings or not - it made you tune in every hour just to hear it!

I love the original countdown - partly because I think it was such a great piece of music, and partly because it brings back memories of watching News 24 as a kid (my mum often had it on during the day). That being said, I think the 2005/2006 versions have to be my favourite - IMO, they struck the perfect balance between adding a bit more pace/punch, without being overly fussy.

Looks like they’re off. I’m studio C you can see the tiny green lights when they’re powered on.

Was there a back half hour program preceding this newscast and if so is it SOP to turn off screens? If they’re on are they just black, generic graphics (which I bet cause burn in) or some screen saver?

The screens just flickered after the headlines, then came back with the middle one slightly misaligned.

I believe they are left on all the time with the BBC News generic graphic, but I'm sure someone can confirm that.

The countdown prior to the News at Ten started, but then abruptly crashed to a black screen, before flashing the Film Review ad ending and then a non-moving BBC globe image was shown until the Ten started as normal.
