So it was just the headline sequence?
I’m surprised there was still a full regional ident and headlines for the Six tonight with it only being 8 minutes long
So it was just the headline sequence?

The BBC have gone more extreme than ITV with the cuts to the 6pm newshour during the World Cup.
That said though I didn't see tonight on Friday they basically just threw to the regions at 6.10pm on BBC1, so what happened on the News Channel? You'd think really they'd advise viewers wanting a more standard length bulletin to switch to the news channel, even if it does mean making the choice between the national and regional news.
Also on Friday North West Tonight aired a special on Facebook at 6.30pm. So frustrates me they have to use a third party site rather than being able to offer such content directly through the BBC website or iPlayer.

You made a point there about viewers have to make a choice between then national and regional news...
In my opinion, the best case scenario is that they put Sportsday on earlier than usual on NC during the regional news opt on BBC1, so that viewers can catch up with regional news without missing national news hours...
By the way, speaking of national news scheduling... This is taken from the EPG for BBC One today:
(Hello and welcome to the BBC News at One at 12PM!)

Wow. Whatever next? "Breakfast" at 3pm or "Newsnight" at 9am, perhaps?
Incidentally... there's no such thing as "12 PM " (nor, indeed, "12 AM " )

Wow. Whatever next? "Breakfast" at 3pm or "Newsnight" at 9am, perhaps?
Last night at 10:30pm, Huw Edwards said “Tonight, at ten”. The titles were generic, rather than “10” ones.

Surely we can't now have the advertised Papers Review before 11pm as the News at ten past Ten has ended at nearly 10.45 and Sportsday is now on so, even if it was to end very soon, it would leave a Papers Review of about 5 minutes long?
EDIT: Sportsday has ended, at nearly 10.53 - seems like they are going for the 5 minute Paper Review (but not surprisingly the full intro. sequence for the programme did not play)...

It was dropped but, given that the News at Ten had ended so late, and Sportsday was still on afterwards, the first of two Papers Reviews was barely 3 minutes long.
I thought it was said that the Newsnight repeat would be dropped during the World Cup?

No PMQs on the News Channel. Possibly the sign language service for the BBC One news is seen as more important, and people wanting PMQs can watch BBC Parliament. But still - begs the question of why, if PMQs is automatically seen as "news", because it is otherwise always on the News Channel despite being available on BBC Parliament, it isn't on the News Channel (which does have the ability not to broadcast the BBC One news, for example for live press conferences - and the sign language service is impacted on such occasions so why is now an exception?).
