Possibly because in absolutely no other job do they have to do it. Should've given it to a weather presenter - at least they're used to coordinating gestures and speech!
News Channel is skipping the BBC News at One and joining BBC World for the Impact programming, on the Syria Conflict issue. I believe this is the first time Impact has ever been broadcast on the NC as a simulcast and I hope NC continues simulcasting it (as they could just run a delayed BBC News at One after it).

Not the first time parts of impact have been simulcast and its not going to continue.

That's a shame, Impact seems like a decent programme for the News Channel. I don't recall it ever being presented before though, maybe at a different time slot or far in the past?

There is a news conference from the Russia Ambassador to the UK taking place.(hence the simulcast)

I think it’s also because of a major story. Matthew Price is currently in Beirut on location and both channels have been simulcasting him on location at the top of the hour.

It was due to the press conference and the inflexibility of the BBC1 bulletins to show extended lives.
- at least they're used to coordinating gestures and speech!
So i guess the presenters should be robots at that rate since humans are apparently incapable of movements or gestures and talking simultaneously. Heaven help if they have to walk or actually display the slightest bit of personality. LOL
In my opinion you have to comfortable, walking talking and displaying personality and confidence.

See, that much personality coming out of a newscaster over here, would have the Daily Mail brigade so incandescent with rage that they'd be smoking heavier than a 60-a-day smoker!!! They don't want that kind of personality in their news presentation, and news presentation here is somewhat conservative in its styling. Only Germany comes across as more conservative.

TBH, I'd say, in some ways, we're more conservative than Germany these days. German newscasts are very keen on big virtual studios, and their presenters tend to do a lot of walking around said studios - in fact, save for one or two exceptions, German newscasters hardly ever present the news seated.
