Bit of a strange technical problem just now during Breakfast. There were sound issues with the weather forecast, then it cut to the news channel TOTH sting, then to an empty Studio C with a somewhat bemused floor manager. After a minute or so we went back to Breakfast.
Wasn't Studio C but rather the BBC London Studio (D?). Worth noting the News channel is coming from there today (maintenance work in E?). There were problems with the TOTH sequence with the automation all out of sync leaving Shaun Ley a bit confused when the studio cross eventually happened from the recorded studio pan.
There's someone in C, looks like maybe Simon McCoy sitting at the desk?
Presumably the person in C is the duty world presenter as C is the world studio. E is the studio shown on the cross newsroom shot and this is normally a prerecord when the NC is in D.
It's always weird to me when they present the NC from other studios that isn't the usual World News studio, same with programming like Dateline London which feels more "cramped".
On another note, anyone noticed that ever since the weather was switched to MeteoGroup, that weather broadcasts are no longer delivered from the balcony at any point? It's either in Studio E (at key broadcasts like News at One/News Six, or Afternoon Live), Salford (for the morning broadcasts) or their green-screen studio. I hope they return to using that balcony at some point.
