It seemed that the switch to trailers after the Ten this evening didn't go as smoothly as intended on the News Channel.

No doubt Network BBC One went to the regions/nations as intended, but the NC was left with a muted shot of Fiona Bruce, who seemed in rather a hurry to get off to wherever she had planned for a Friday evening . . . Very Happy (I don't blame her)

And off she goes with her bag in hand. Nice one there Fiona. Laughing

Only an ID. I like how she took the time to properly align the papers along both edges - but not to turn and throw them in the bin.
I know that's a stage managers job but it just stood out to me after the effort of aligning the papers. Not like there's seven news papers, multiple coffee cups and countless pens.

I think she took all that time to align the papers in order to remain looking professional (she may have had knowledge that she was still on air on the BBC News Channel and was hoping to opt out soon), however, it seems she had no choice but to terminate her on-screen look and quickly exit the Studio due to the News Channel presenter entering or simply because her presence was no longer required.

I was just making the comment in jest. Like you go through all that effort but not throw the papers away.

And I was talking about the real scenario.

It Seems the News Channel pulled out of the Newsnight repeat 10 minutes in and went back to Ben Brown in E to cover the breaking news about the Florida School shooting.

Something strange: World's "This week in history" menu going out on the NC, with the World News logo!

Always does. Unlike other hours of the overnight simulcast, Newsday don't provide anything for UK viewers, and so play this out instead.

I would still expect them to cover the logo though.

I daresay it could be done with a bit of playing with Mosart, in the same way that the correct logo is supered over the TOTH it could probably be added to the whole of that segment.

But whether it's worth the effort is questionable, given that it's something else to go wrong.

Or just put the BBC World Service logo instead, as World Service is known by both UK and global audience.

This particular ‘patch’ is actually burnt in to the This Week in History video. I’m also not sure it’s in the same position as the patch that appears in the programme titles so it’s not dead-easy to cover it up for the uk audience.

Regular viewers will recall that the UK audience used to never see The Week in History at all, and Newsday's London presenter would do a quick UK headlines piece for News Channel viewers until World rejoined. Scrapping that malark in favour of a single output clearly saves money. Putting any resources into fiddling about with this segment for the UK audience would now likely be deemed a waste.

Not News Channel output, but the Facebook video (odd hosting choice?) of Trump's statement earlier today on the BBC News website's Live Updates page ended with a quick glimpse of a Eurovision feed menu:

*

The video is here, you have to go to about 34:10 to see this and get about 15 seconds of bit-too-chirpy music.
