You've obviously completely misunderstood Buzzfeed barcode. They do their fair bit of 'entertainment' content like the listicles you've linked to, but they don't pretend that it's journalism.. They then do some quite decent politics/news content which obviously is journalism.

Also, the last article you linked to is a Community article, which anyone can write - it's not an article written by Buzzfeed and it clearly states that at the top of the page.

BuzzFeed does indeed still have a good amount of those clickbait articles. It does also have excellent investigative journalism on its site, They've done a few high profile investigative collaborations with the BBC too (Kids Company comes to mind).

Now, something like The Independent... they've really gone down the plughole.

Like I said I will give them a fair crack of the wip, and look at the higher end stuff.

Buzzfeed is quite well respected for its journalism and they've got a decent scoop with the leaked Brexit impact reports, why shouldn't that be featured?

They have done good reporting but listicles and sponsored content are what it’s known for. They were the ones that revealed that Steele Memo/Dossier. Some of the long form stuff is good.

Not worth resurrecting the 'Newsnight" thread for this, so I'll place it here.

How long has Newsnight been using this rather superfluous second "coffee table" position? What's wrong with the existing one for DTLs, or even the larger desk at the other end of the studio?

They're not even the same style of table, which makes it all the more weird.

EDIT: It was used throughout the entire programme too . . .

Welcome 2018 and the continued dreary tired BBC News presentation for another year.

Really? I thought they'd done quite a good job of freshening things up last year - Afternoon Live being an example. Would you rather they went back to an N6 setup? Rolling Eyes

The graphics and titles are looking really tired though. Never been a fan of the lower thirds and associated graphics, personally - plain white straps with black Helvetica text is hardly the cutting edge of design.

Personally, I think the 2008-2013 graphics were bolder and more "in your face".

There all very good ideas..

Also I’m not sure where to put this but the PBS underwriting announcement on Beyond 100 Days that occurs during the open globe animation sounds horrific. It’s monotone and horrible sounding - almost as if it was recorded over the phone.

I finally got around to uploading the open to the PBS version of Beyond 100 Days. They do a custom open for the show and the odd sounding underwriting by PBS is still there.

It seemed that the switch to trailers after the Ten this evening didn't go as smoothly as intended on the News Channel.

No doubt Network BBC One went to the regions/nations as intended, but the NC was left with a muted shot of Fiona Bruce, who seemed in rather a hurry to get off to wherever she had planned for a Friday evening . . . Very Happy (I don't blame her)

Only an ID. I like how she took the time to properly align the papers along both edges - but not to turn and throw them in the bin.
I know that's a stage managers job but it just stood out to me after the effort of aligning the papers. Not like there's seven news papers, multiple coffee cups and countless pens.
