The evening news tonight on BBC1 and the News Channel is at 9pm tonight. Harks back to a certain Nine O' Clock News!

When was the last time the main evening news on a weekday was at 9pm? I don't even recall it being on at this time even during past festive seasons.

ITV had ‘News at Nine’ during the Iraq War - so anyone who had been out the country for a while must have been confused if they were used to the BBC having the Nine O’Clock News and ITN News at Ten!

The BBC website is listing it as the BBC News at Ten even though it's at 9.

And for once the BBC1 late News seems to have been prioritised on the News Channel over the normal 9:00pm World News Today Simulcast (although it's not that often the Late News lands in the 9:00pm Hour.)

On New Year’s Eve in 2015 the late News was on at 9pm. I recall that Mrs Browns Boys D’Movie was shown at 9:15pm, that wasn’t a long film either.

Interesting to see BBC Scotland having the news 30 minutes earlier than network tonight. Have a couple of questions about it.

1. Has this happened before/is it a regular occurence?
2. Will it be the same bulletin prerecorded or a separate bulletin.

1. Yes
2. Scotland will take the News Channel who will do a specific bulletin for Scotland.

Happens on New Year's Eve every year, also might happen occasionally maybe once a year at other times.

Is the bulletin provided by NC done in the same way as the 10pm news as in UK wide or is it similar to Reporting Scotland? If it’s the latter why can’t BBC Scotland do their own bulletin?
