Hmmmm.... just because you can have screens that big, doesn't mean you should. They do look a bit too big for the space - or is the plan to block out the newsroom so you can't catch any of the staff watching episodes of Games of Thrones again? Very Happy

If they wanted to change the visual look of the bulletin, they could rotate the desk platform so that the presenter is sitting in front of the catwalk screens, but I'm not sure that that look will work. Don't know if there is enough space for cameras though facing that direction.

Just a thought.

I don't know how practical that would be as the camera tracks aren't setup in a full circle and only have the ability to track part way round the studio. That could be something they look at during any studio refit as it would give them greater flexibility if the cameras could do a full circle. It would also mean they could simply spin the desk round so the presenter is seated with their back to the screens if works to the newsroom are being carried out, thus negating the need to move studios in such circumstances.

Yes and they would probably use a virtual newsroom on those displays. Would look as great as the empty room view on Breakfast and Wales News.

These screens look very big. Are they any plans to use these new screens in Studio A & C along with E?

Well studio A wouldn't need them, of course.

Has there been a DTL interview shown on it yet so I can make the ‘Home Secretary my goodness you’re huge! Please don’t eat us!’ joke?

Doesn't look too bad to me.

Earlier on in the day, the camera was so far back that you could see the (black) ceiling.

I think they look good too. The brilliant white behind the logo on those screens do overshadow the plasmas a bit.

I'd have thought a good rule of thumb would be not to have the head of the person who is further away look bigger than the head of the person who is closer, but maybe that's just me. My brain is telling me the image is overlaid and the presenter is looking at something behind it.

I don’t know how I feel about it. They seem so big compared to the old ones and as someone said it appears they are floating or almost an keyed graphic.

What size were the old ones 60”?

I don’t know why but I find the idea of having a screen in that sort of position looks really dated. Like in the late 90s and early 00s when every cheap news programme going thought wheeling a new-fangled plasma screen next to the presenter looked modern.

I just think the whole set, whilst clearly not being, looks a bit cheap. Maybe it’s just me.
