Don't Salford use the old N6/TC7 Barco version? Makes sense to use the real thing if it's available. Or even use the balcony position like on Victoria Derbyshire.

I've always found it a rather strange and awkward arrangement (on a typical weekend) for one of the Breakfast presenters to have to make an apology to leave the programme ten minutes before the end 'to go and read the news for Andrew Marr'.

Could they not just cut back to the Breakfast studio for the first Marr bulletin to avoid this, maybe with the background on the plasma screen changed to a newsroom image?

Today's Marr saw Riz Lateef from BBC London present the headlines, if I remember correctly she also did the same from Studio B when Marr first moved to Broadcasting House! The backdrop looks much better if not a little big (because of the size of the screens in comparison to the size of the presenter, meaning you only see a relatively small and low down shot of the Studio E backdrop). Wasn't the reason they got rid of someone reading the headlines from London because they'd save money by not having to bring someone in especially?

When Breakfast was in London one of the presenters would go to TC7 to read the news on Marr. However the weekend Breakfast shows looked more like the rest of the News Channel output so going single headed for the last portion didn't look too strange.

That would leave you very little time to check comms with the news presenter (their talkback feed would need to be switched), switch Autocue to a different show order, confirm story order with presenter etc. (I think the news bulletin VTs are played in by the London gallery, and scripts are in the Marr running order.)

Fair enough if there are valid technical reasons I suppose, but it's a shame they can't come up with a more elegant solution. But thanks for the explanation. Smile

Owain Wyn Evans posted this studio set on his Instagram earlier. It seems to have the desk from Victoria Derbyshire but I don't recognise the set at all. Any ideas where it is?

Isn't it just Victoria Derbyshire except unlit?

Nope, the studio is the wrong shape and size to be Studio B at BH, and I don't recall any studio having that particular set-up of screens - there's a gap around the screens which isn't present pretty much anywhere else, usually the screens look as if they're sat on top of the bottom LED section. I'd say perhaps a new set for the BBC region the presenter is from, but I hope they've not got in a completely off-brand desk if that's the case!

The ceiling is too low maybe it's a studio in Salford?

Wasn't there a BBC World Service language station that had their old studio torn down recently in BH?

Is it too big to be the second Sport set/studio?
