Thats shocking, how on earth did they get an award with such inconsistencies.
Have you considered Newsline's colourscheme could be as a result of them trying to distance themselves from Network BBC? Perhaps their research found viewer's on one side of the community are encouraged to see differences in branding from network output, rather than perceiving Newsline as an extension of British rule. Subtle details like these have to be considered, you can hardly claim UTV Live has any relation to ITV News and viewer's love it because of that.
Here, the 'BBC' lettering is much more bold than usual.
Think you'll find that the above example is pretty much in accordance with the guidelines on the BBC commissioning and delivery website... If you download the TIFF file in 16:9 and compare it is probably quite similar.

Think the opposite is actually the case. When Newsline originally rebranded with the Lambie Nairn BBC Corporate News identity they had been given they were green - these days they are much closer to the previous corporate red and beige scheme.
(Originally Scotland were blue - nodding to the Saltaire - Wales had their red - nodding to their dragon - and Northern Ireland got green - nodding to the emerald isle)
News ditched the beige and moved to a red white and black scheme just after Newsline rebranded in their current colour scheme I think...

The green and blue was not a particularly pleasent colourscheme and it was somewhat a relief when they ditched it. I guess they decided that the LN look was good but they tweaked it slightly to keep it distinctive. I'm not sure when they changed it, before or after News changed, I'm fairly certain the old blue and green set was still in use at the end of 2003?

Sorry, I don't agree. The 'BBC' lettering on 'The One Show' end board is slightly thicker/bolder than it should be. Look how thin the white boxes are above and below the letters.
Compare with the BBC logo shown here (taken from their branding website):
The logo used by 'The One Show' is from some sort of 'rogue' template that keeps popping up now and again. It is definitely incorrect.
Must say, the quality of some of the BBC logos shown on the BBC TV branding website is appalling; and that is supposed to be the standard to be followed?!
I'm glad this irritates other people and not just me. It's so sloppy. Surely a lot of effort and fine tuning goes into the creation of these images, like the news titles. Is it a case of people who are too stupid to notice such obvious inaccuracies or people who just don't care, allowing them to get through? I wrote to Newsline about the awful BBC logo there not long after they changed the look. I didn't receive a response. I cannot believe that people involved in the production of this programme haven't noticed so obvious a glitch. In the North-West, we used to have pink BBC ONE boxes before the news or boxes that were impossible to read because the letters were blurred (wasn't my tv). To me it sends out a message of 'can't be bothered/don't care to get things right'. The BBC logo is not the most complex logo in the world to reproduce accurately, is it?
The inconsistency as well as the sloppiness annoys me. I don't think it's a bad idea to have varied styles of logo for different channels as long as there is an element of consistency, but if you put them together, they look a mess, especially the international channels, where the BBC boxes are a different size on each logo and in different positions around the logo. I don't see the need for variations on the same logo either - the current stacked BBC one just looks awful because nothing is alligned, and what is its purpose - could the normal version not be easily used in its place, or if a box is really that desperately needed, could a rectangle not have been made so that the BBC logo didn't need moving on top of the one?
Grrrrr!!!!
Also another thing which is vaguley related. Whenever I watch the national news on BBC one, during the opening titles, there is always a jerk in the sequence at some point as they play out. It happens on every tv in my house, on the tv in my brother's house, and on my tv at uni, so I know it isn't my tv at home! What causes this?
Oh and one more thing....on the point about Newsline having a different scheme to distance itself from Britain...that can hardly be right. If they were trying to appeal to Republicans, would Northern Ireland really be shown as being severed from the rest of Ireland, as though it were an island?! Just a tad more provocative than the colour scheme!

That is a throw-back to the original Lambie-Nairn branding when all regional and national titles had cut-outs of their "editorial" (or was it "geographical") patches combined with placename lettering shuffling on.
They were ditched as swiftly as possible by some regions - probably those that had totally unrecognisable boundaries (West and East Midlands were totally un-memorable, whereas East and South West were very distinctive)
Yes, I realise that. I'm referring to a post above which suggests the change to red and yellow is a distancing from Britain. If that were they case, the severed shape of NI would not have been kept. I don't think I can make my point any clearer.

That's your region opting back in after the headlines. BBC1 routed via your region must be a fraction of a second different to Network. I expect it happens across all the regions
